Need help ASAP

Recommended Posts

I'm having a bit of an issue. On Tuesday I found out that a couple of my stuff was stolen. Playing cards if anyone is interested. I'm not talking about some cheap cards, I'm talking about roughly $160 worth (9 cards were stolen). I only noticed this after a friend went through my cards to see if I "stolen" any of his from Saturday. Problem was, now that I think about it, I was nowhere near his stuff on Saturday since I was busy in a tournament. I had then on Saturday, I know that since I used them then. He did say that he noticed them missing yesterday (he said that on Tuesday, so "yesterday" is Monday) But no one was looking through my cards that day. I already filed out a paper about this to the campus police, but they won't help me unless if I (I think it was) press charges (or something a bit less then that) since they don't want to take 2 to 3 hours observing security cameras to see if a friend "might" have them and just get them back.

So basically I have to "press charges" for them to observe the video tapes and, if he did take them, they'll get the cards from him and send him to jail for thievery. But if he's innocent, would he be able to press charges for "falsely accusing him"?

I should also mention that he somehow has copies of the cards that were stolen and is wiling to trade then for cards I keep saying I'm not willing to trade. He keeps forcing me to do the trade, which is making me more suspicious of him really stealing them. I need to know if I should tell the police "yes, I'm 'pressing charges' (cannot recall waht it was, it's not pressing charges, but something similar to it)", or just try and get the cards from ebay.

I'd like to know before tomorrow, since there's a regional tournament Saturday, my cards might be gone for good if that happens.

Please and thank you.

Well, Yu-Gi-Oh playing cards. But still the stolen cards aren't easy to find nowadays except for ebay, and I don't want to buy from ebay :(

No you don't get it. Theyre tiny rectangles of cardboard. What's the point of having them in the first place? Least of all spending $160 on paper.

As someone who can understand how it is, I can only tell you you should see the tapes. Thievery is thievery, no matter what was stolen (cardboard or no cardboard) lol

My sister has collected that same cardgame since the show came out. She has really, really, really rare cards and if someone stole them, I would want to press charges and I know she would. The collection is worth 500+ dollars.

I say you should do whatever you can to find out what happened to them. Do no let a possible thief get away with stealing. :)

Theyre playing cards. I don't see a problem.

The problem is someone stole from him....

To be honest, my friends and I have been in the situation before, and unfortunately, unless you press charges, you will most likely never see the cards again.

However, try asking your friends to see if they have your cards. Who knows? You might get lucky.

For casual playing with friends, relaxing from stress of tests/exams, and having fun at local card shops.

I knew I should have dealt with this sooner, and wow, hope she's taking good care of those cards. But what if it turns out it wasn't him? I mean, he did have some of his own cards stolen on Saturday (or that could be a cover-up story... Now I'm not sure anymore)

None of them were at the tournament, and those that were I only see at the card shop. So I'm in a real pickle.

Well I still have the text message saying that "He noticed my cards were missing yesterday", that Monday were he never looked through my cards.

This is the key point. How could he know if he never looked?

I want to say a "typo" error since it's hard to text on phones, he could have meant today (Tuesday. Yeah, I don't like to think negative much) But when you put it that way, I do wonder how he "know" without looking.

Lol we all have hobbies Chief...

I say press charges if you're certain he did it. Back in the days when I used to collect DBZ cards, my best friend stole them from my bag after I showed him that I had them. I got pretty upset coz they were my older brothers cards (i think i was 10 at the time) and then a while after my friend showed up at the door with his dad (who must have somehow found out) and confessed and gave them back.

Glad you got your DBZ cards back.

Well he did quit Yu-Gi-Oh and, from what I heard, sold all of his cards. Also after overhearing a conversation (which means I didn't hear the whole thing so I might be missing something) he said he saved a few cards for a certain deck theme, and those cards are ones that were stolen. I am pretty sure he did, since I did leave a deckbox at home on Saturday, and now it's missing 2 to 3 cards from it, which I brought with me to school Monday of this week, including that Tuesday when he was looking through everything. I mean, he was trying to get me to duel against someone else while he was looking through everything (I should have waited until he was done looking).

So I'm certain he took them. I just hope the police will help me, since they don't want to help me just get the cards back and leave it at that. The Officer probably was having a bad morning or something.

Edit: Ok, I know what to do now. Wish me luck tomorrow and thank you everyone :)

Well Nisage, you don't really have to say its him. You could just view the tapes and if someone stole them, the video will show who did it. That way, you don't have to falsely accuse someone. :)

Do you remember who was the last to touch the cards besides yourself?

EDIT:

Oh, you came to a decision. Okay then! Good luck, Nisage! Hope you get your cards back! :)

Sadly, the campus police weren't any help. However, I did see my cards in his trade binder (I recognize the small bit of play-ware anywhere). So tomorrow I'm going to the campus police letting them know I found them and hope they can help, doubt it since I think they don't care but who knows.

Wish me luck again ^^'

Edit: I guess in one way of putting it, I'm going to try the direct approach and say "I've been to the campus police, they're going to back me up on this. I don't want to press charges on you, I just want my cards back, or we're going to have some problems". Something like that.
