Error when opening project.

Question

I need some serious help here. Okay today I went to open my game to look at the contents and all of a sudden I get this error message that says unexpected file format!. If anyone has any ideas how this can be cured I would be very appreciated as long as deleting the file is not a solution. Ive posted a image of the problem and last time I opened the program I saved and exited like normal. Now whenever I try to play test my game I get this error. I have put a lot of work into this game and it has about 15 hours of game play so I really don't wanna lose it.

That could be any number of issues i would guess. I have personally seen what you have, if you lost those files that would be like the apocalypse for your rpg. Actually from the second picture it looks like one of your scripts has an issue.

That, my friend, is Rpgmaker's version of The Blue Screen of Death I guess you could call it the Small Window of Death. I have never seen anyone ever fix this, sorry :( :( :( The only solution is to take the folders and copy them into a new game.

SWOD usually happens when RPG Maker is saving something or doing something during shutdown, program crash or a bunch of random stuff. Could never figure out why. Your best bet is to copy your folders over to a new project.

As for the titlescreen error:

Do you have any scripts that replace/modify the title?

Thats what I figured.

Of course the title script shouldnt matter anymore with a currupted game

Even Safe Mode?

If he can get into safe mode have him run a system restore.

Right after the bios message hit F8 and options will come up for safe mode.

Na I cant do nothing with it I have ran tests to see whats wrong but they come up empty. I'm going to take it to some techs tommorow if they cant fix it then I will proably no longer be active on here except once a week or so.

There was a script made for this ages ago: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/resources/scripts/item/auto-backup

You know its kinda of ironic the day this happened to me I was thinking about making a back up data for my game on skydrive. Man life is sucking right now. :(

I think your computer got pissed at you for the unexpected file format so it's refusing to work...

If you have another computer you can always backup your projects and files using this method.

http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/6580-backing-up-files-when-windows-cannot-be-accessed/

I made it just for you.

I can personally gaurintee nothing bad will happen to your computer doing that.

Theres a 99.99% chance in being able to backup everything. Unless your HDD(Hard Drive) went capoof.

No problem. Let me know how well it works for you.

Well know with yours that makes the 4th thing I have to back up my files lol.

I'm using that script that Mark posted, Skydrive on windows live, sending it to a friend, and know your program

I will be cursed if I lose my progress again :P
