Best Way to Back Up Rmxp Games Online

Recommended Posts

Ever since my hdd failed me I've placed my new rmxp games in a file that has been syncned with my Windows live account via Windows Mesh

That means that this folder is always backed up, ALWAYS and its completely free

Windows Sky Drive itself allows u 25 gigs of free storage and 5 gigs of synced storage (part of the the 25 gigs)

All you need is a windows live/messenger account

Also if you some how manage to reach the 5gig max (tonnes o music resources?)

you can just make another account and separate your stuff into two files

Note: I dont know if you can access the files on the internet directly with RMXP like you can with Microsoft Word, but I doubt it. You would have to find away to get permissions for the program to open and access files from teh cloud server

Go here and get Windows Live Mesh

http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mesh-sync-skydrive-using?os=other

When choosing a folder to sync you can either choose the folder which stores all games (usually in the rpgmaker xp folder of my documents) or you can choose the actual game folder to sync

If you want to work on your game with another computer with rmxp you have to redownload the files, you cannot access the windows live server directly with RMXP (I think, I haven't gone that far yet)

Thanks for the advise. :alright:

Moved to Game Development Discussion. Also, in case you haven't seen it already, there is the backup script: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/resources/scripts/item/auto-backup

Ya, but the only thing wrong with this script is that if the computer goes, the backup goes with it unless it gets save to the system just how windows has it's backup system set up.

Yeah. I didn't post it as an alternative to this, just throwing it in there, perhaps as a complementary precaution.
