Japan Earthquake

Recommended Posts

I thought this breaking news would have been posted today

Japan earthquake measuring 8.9 on the scale O.o absolute disaster, mass destruction, tsunami. Apparently its completely wiped out small pacific islands. Oregon, and people have been evacuated from coastal areas of that state and in California and Washington. around 200-300 bodies have been found so far (that being in a small town already and its not even over yet) even worse, its predicted that the stress caused by the quake will flow along the other lines and could possibly cause another quake/ tsunami in coming months

absolutely tremendouse disaster, if the nuclear plant that has caught fire leaks toxic material and explodes, it could wipe out the near entire of Japan, rendering it completely uninhabitibal and to make things even worse... if the shield thats up has been damaged by the quake, then damage from the nuclear plant could reach out side of Japan (if it goes boom!)

these details are not word for word, I've been reading and listening to the news, but all of this is what ive read and listened to

First the freak quake in England, then Haitii then Christ church and now Japan - scary

This is truly sad. The only thing we can do is pray. These types of things really break my heart.

I'd just like to note that 2012 wasn't just predicted by the mayans. many cultures and philosophers around the world have predicted an apocalyptic event in this general time period. these people had no way of communicating with each other so the odds of coincedence go down a bit, at least in my eyes. I think it only prudent to have some kind of preparation, in light of everything happening in the world.

Theres no reason to consider this as the signs of a beginning of Apocalypse; the recent seismic activity on the ring of fire where japan is has been abnormally calm. This massive earthquake is a blip on the scale. Every Decade or so there is an apocalypse scare, in the 90's it was Y2K 70's it was Nuke Holocaust

btw if you've ever read the manga or watched the anime of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 which came out about 2 years ago, the similarities are quite apparent, a magnitude 9 Earthquake is ridiculously powerful however.

Please stop talking about 2012. Just about every culture has its wicked views about the end of the world with no proof. Let's worry about the people instead of false tales.

Good call Franklin. The quake in NZ 3 weeks ago was actually on the same tectonic plate, but this quake as reported is 8,000 times more powerful (though I think more people died from the NZ quake if you exclude japans tsunami).

Also did you guys know that fish thing also happened in NZ...

I heard as well the quake went for around 2 and a half minutes which is pretty insane. Having being in both the NZ quakes I really couldn't imagine it... Thank goodness it was out to sea. I think it was pretty abnormally shallow. If you look at the largest quakes in history, you're getting around 30k deep, but this was 10k, making the shaking above much much worse.

What fish thing? I'm confused.

thousands of fish have been washing up on shore and thousands of birds have been falling from the sky all around the world. the interesting part is that in each area only one species was affected.

I have some friends over in japan, they are exchange students in tokyo. I heared they are okay. But i also know a guy who i met through rmxp: he's was composing for my game. We get allong really well and just yesterday we were talking about how i would travel to japan next year and he could show me around and soon after he'd come to my home country (belgium, which is very popular amonst japanese tourists) and all. Now i haven't heared him since the earthquake. I hope he's doing fine.

Nothing yet. I'm not worrying too much because internet and telephone are heavily disturbed and of course he'll inform his family and closest friends first.

It's wierd how people are talking about the end of the world when this same earth quake happend in the 1920's as well. Plus tectonic plates around the pacific move around all the time it's just rare that it moves up to 8+ at times.
