Bugs

typo in the manual "Or cange what"

also the manual uses lowercase I

something is wrong with the name string, it's filled with a strange symbol

when alt+entering the system confuses it with an actual game input.

training area 4th jump should be two squares tall.

second map of the training area, cathy's line has a typo, she says "you to"

the bed where Bob wakes up after the fire, you can walk onto one tile of the table

upon pressing F12 the game crashes with error message, "script 'tons of add-ons part 2' line 1287: systemstackerror occurred. stack level too deep

when returning from the first forest area to brian's house area you are transfered a little to the right of the path.

you can walk trough the log and after breaking it the sides of the broken piece become inpassible.

Enemies can land a final blow after your level up has maxed your health

Mayor's explanation there is a mistake, it should be "bulletin"

Wooden spear's description begins with a lowercase letter

On the map after defeating the mountain boss there is a place where you can freely walk off on the air

If you go back to the mountain top after graduating you will trigger the scene again.

after talking to the innkeeper the game crashes with a missing picture message.

another missing picture crash in the skill shop.

missing bgm in the skill shop.

Harry's picture has a couple of places that are missing pixels, that's likely due to rm transparency.

missing map 136, on the map north east of the snow city. I guess that's what I get for jumping trough impassible objects.

I guess the devil was on a break tonight, went trough his gates, and it appears he picked up his whole dimension and went on vacation. Causing the map to go missing.

Impressions

The main protagonist seems to have the same name as the game creator, that's interesting.

Fast paced gameplay, requires accuracy and speed, that leads to a steep learning curve

you seem to be able to jump to and trough impassible tiles.

as soon as you leave the house the protagonist figures out that the guy inside might know something.

I went back to talk to Brian but he gives me the same message as before leaving, so he is infact useless.

you can attack the felled log in the first forest map.

enemies get to have a cheap shot on me as they are vanishing.

seems to have a linear plot, the first crossroad I reach and my character tells me "you cant go there".

the AI system is a nice addition, but it's rather complex, it might be too much for the kind of player that loves a simple button mashed.

doesn't seem to be enough indications, like what stats grow when you level up, or what items you pick up.

Sometimes monsters seem to get thrown all over the place.

Abundance of save points and merchants make up for the learning curve by providing frequent saves and item.

After defeating the mountain boss I was shocked to find myself dropped in the middle of an area, surrounded by enemies without even a chance to recover.

I just stole a long bow from the house of a stranger and now Bob is telling me that I shouldn't go in his bedroom?

It would have been unfortunate had my game ended prematurely if I didn't replace missing files manually into the folder.

Ah yay, the wise and powerful wizard just said that the world is coming to an end, oh what a painful topic this is in our current time.

"Next time I won't go so easy on you" famous hapless rival words.

The jumping ability is certainly overpowered, you can simply jump trough certain puzzles.

It seems that you can not only walk on water and air, but also on lava, without even hurting.

Money are quite scarce, but then again, items are pretty cheap.

A good merchant hidden away inside a cave blocked by a rock, hmm, last time I tried that the game crashed.

The poison ability seems to be pretty useless, when it costs nearly thrice as much as the other base abilities, and you can spam offensive magic or tank by healing instead.

Thanks for the feedback

When I say "fixed" or say i made a change, I do not mean that I have uploaded it. I will upload a new demo with all the bug fixes that I can, and tell you when I do. but I have not yet

typo in the manual "Or cange what"

also the manual uses lowercase I

fixed, thanks

something is wrong with the name string, it's filled with a strange symbol

I'm aware of this bug, and don't know how to fix it.

when alt+entering the system confuses it with an actual game input.

can't fix that, you'll just have to be careful not to do that when you don't want to press enter, or when highlighting something you dont want to select.

training area 4th jump should be two squares tall.

second map of the training area, cathy's line has a typo, she says "you to"

the bed where Bob wakes up after the fire, you can walk onto one tile of the table

fixed, thanks for telling me.

upon pressing F12 the game crashes with error message, "script 'tons of add-ons part 2' line 1287: systemstackerror occurred. stack level too deep

this is a known bug with rmxp, but using the tons of add-ons script makes it look like it's because of that script. I will look for a script fix for it and see if it works.

when returning from the first forest area to brian's house area you are transfered a little to the right of the path.

this is intentional. I meant to have the player put in a position where they were not standing in front of a wall. this is done a few other times in the game too, where the impassible areas are shaped weird

you can walk trough the log and after breaking it the sides of the broken piece become inpassible.

fixed

Enemies can land a final blow after your level up has maxed your health

enemies get to have a cheap shot on me as they are vanishing.

can't fix those, sorry. blizz-abs issue. the best i can do is tell Blizzard and hope he releases a new version of the script with a fix for them.

Mayor's explanation there is a mistake, it should be "bulletin"

Wooden spear's description begins with a lowercase letter

On the map after defeating the mountain boss there is a place where you can freely walk off on the air

If you go back to the mountain top after graduating you will trigger the scene again.

fixed, thanks

after talking to the innkeeper the game crashes with a missing picture message.

another missing picture crash in the skill shop.

missing bgm in the skill shop.

i need to be more careful with what i delete when trying to make the file size smaller, sorry.

Harry's picture has a couple of places that are missing pixels, that's likely due to rm transparency.

fixed. not sure why i never fixed most of these things before you told me. i guess i was just being lazy, or thought i would remember and get to it later.

missing map 136, on the map north east of the snow city. I guess that's what I get for jumping trough impassible objects.

right now i'm fixing the jump problem. and yea, that map isnt in the demo.

The main protagonist seems to have the same name as the game creator, that's interesting.

actually my name is Ben, but I use the name Bob a lot. Have never really known why.

as soon as you leave the house the protagonist figures out that the guy inside might know something.

I went back to talk to Brian but he gives me the same message as before leaving, so he is infact useless.

Sorry, I changed it so he gives you the information before you leaves.

seems to have a linear plot, the first crossroad I reach and my character tells me "you cant go there".

once the story directs you to go somewhere, that area, and all areas that you need to go through to get there is "unlocked" and can be accessed again at any time. so the game isn't so linear that you can't backtrack, but I'll work on making more areas accessible even though there is nothing to do there.

doesn't seem to be enough indications, like what stats grow when you level up, or what items you pick up.

I'll see if I can figure out how to tell the player how much MC, AP, and EXP enemies give you, or what items you pick up.

and by the way, all stats increase on level up.

After defeating the mountain boss I was shocked to find myself dropped in the middle of an area, surrounded by enemies without even a chance to recover.

fixed. moved some monsters and added a save point

A good merchant hidden away inside a cave blocked by a rock, hmm, last time I tried that the game crashed.

yup, he's not supposed to be accessible until later in the game (and after the demo)wonder why that map was still there

The poison ability seems to be pretty useless, when it costs nearly thrice as much as the other base abilities, and you can spam offensive magic or tank by healing instead.

poison now deals 20% damage instead of 10, and MP cost for the poison skill has been reduced to 3 instead of 5.

Are you able to finish the game? If not, It's broken. If you can, then I made a huge mistake and uploaded a slightly unfinished version a few days ago, which is the one I was using to record the playthrough.

If that is the case, please give me that version lol I need to reupload it.

edit: DERP I made a backup. It's that 7zip file. Everything's fine now...I feel special...

Well maybe not everything, there could be problems still.

Let me know if you find anything major. little things I'll just ignore from now on with this game.

uploading now...

Added difficulty levels and made it so the player is forced to chose one of each class.

this prevents the player from getting stuck on certain parts and forced to restart the game.

Expert mode is how the game was before i added the difficulty levels.

Hopefully the game is easier now :D

The one of each class thing also prevents players from having 3 characters with the exact same stats and skills. Kinda boring huh?

Each character levels up at different rates anyway...

      so here are my problems.

      1. the offset of "lvl. 2" or whatever level you are, is messed up. changing the offset in the main menu screws it up a whole lot more everywhere else.

      2. in the items and skills menus, i want the part where you chose what character to use stuff on, to be always visible at the bottom, and for the menu to scroll when i press the left and right arrow keys, instead of the up and down like it is now.

      3. the status screen is messy, i need each character to have their own window, and for everything to be moved around so it all fits correctly. also, the name of the character shouldn't be under the character's face.

      4. the equipment screen isn't updated until you exit. e.i if you have a wooden sword equipped, but change to an iron sword, it will still say wooden sword until you exit the menu. i also want the part that says what is equipped to say "weapon: sword" or something instead of just "sword"

how do you change a screen to show the map as a background instead of the annoying black background? i want to do that for the shop

      here are the scripts

      so yea, that's it.

I've been trying for months for RMXP to work on my laptop. I have Windows 7 64-bit and I always come across mixed reactions whenever I search it online. I have heard that RMXP DOES in fact work with 64- bit, so I was wondering if there was something I need to do for it to work. The problem is whenever I try to activate, it does not go through the system and is left saying "connecting to server" for hours on end. (I left it for two days straight one time). So...help?

If you have spent any decent amount of time in the Editor, you have probably encountered this bug. Game just STOPS, reason is not apparently obvious. It doesnt CRASH, but just STOPS.

What I found was that if you "Force" an Event to have a Repeating Move Route, then later call in ANY EVENT to "Wait for Move's Completion", the game goes into an Infinite Loop of Waiting, due
to the Repeated "Forced" Event. So the game basically waits Forever.

A "Forced Move Route" is when you change an Events Move Route by using the "Set Move Route" button. The Custom Move Routes were not affected. An easy work around would be to use different Pages, each Page having a different Move Route. This prevents that bug from occuring PERIOD. Its only a One Line Fix, but probably a NIGHTMARE for anyone new to RMXP to understand.

DO NOT USE IN VX OR VX ACE - RMXP (RPG Maker XP) Only!

It didnt look like there was an easy way to Alias the Def, so I just did a total Redefinition of the original with the fix.
