kellessdee 48 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 you can't delete the colours in gimp? there is 2 tools, one that selects a single color (exact color) and another tool that selects similar colors. I find the gimp help manual useful and well organized, check it out. But the 2 tools I am talking about are the fuzzy select tool and select by color tool respectively (at the top left corner of the tool bar, but one square over (to the left of the scissors tool) but I don't know about the error...do you have a screenshot? Anyways for recoloring Idraw is pretty good (and free) although the biggest downside is that it only works with image files that are 256 colors (it used to be perfect when I was using rm2k3 because it uses 256 colors) but because of this it works with a palette, so if you use the eyedropper to get the color, you can modify it right in the palette, so ALL colors that are like that change. So you can easily recolor an entire sprite set.
njiua 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) here is the error, it's dutch, it says: Colorization does only work on RGB layers. i don't have fotoshop, so i can't use that haven't founded anything else yet, greets Edited April 11, 2011 by njiua
kellessdee 48 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 Oh apparently (which I never knew about) is that there are different modes in gimp. Are you not in RGB mode? YOu have to select Image > Mode > RGB I did a google translate and it should be Beeld > Modus > RGB (i dunno how well the translator worked :P) I hope that helps
njiua 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 thanks ^^ it was translated 100% correct, i can recolor now. greets
kellessdee 48 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 No problem man :P I knew there had to be a way to fix this, as i've never had issue with color selection! I really love gimp, its kinda like a open-source free photoshop. It's not as stable as photoshop, but it works really well nonetheless!
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted April 11, 2011 I also use gimp to recolor character sets. I've made some African Americans thanks to Gimp!
