Choose your answer, and explain what's so awesome about the game

if you don't like FF, please explain why. If you make an account here, you HAVE to like rpg's right? so why would NOT like the greatest rpg series EVER!?

if you can't decide, pick one, and list all of your favs

I have three, but they're the only FF games i've played so...

I, VII, X

I've played Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, and X-2, but they weren't as good.

edit: I've also played II and III so...

my top 5 FF games:

1. X

2. VII (can't seem to beat Safer Sephiroth)

3. I (Anniversary edition, and dawn of souls. beat both)

4. II (Dawn of souls. beat it)

5. III (never owned or beat. didn't play it much in the first place)

How I learned of Final Fantasy, and loved it!

my brother rented FFX-2, and played it for a

bit. He wanted to know who was missing and what happened to them, so he bought FFX. We beat that, and later bought I&II Dawn of Souls. (after beating Kingdom Hearts) I beat 1 first, since II seemed too hard. We beat 1, and I figured out what I should be doing in 2. I beat it. we bought VII, but it froze at the beginning at the same part, fighting this enemy, but only when he used hell bomber (or whatever it's call it). We put that game down, and later bought KH2, and Dirge of Cerberus FF7, we beat KH2, and I beat DoC. My brother bought Advent Children without telling me...

My bro bought Crisis Core and FF1 anniversary. i beat them, then he downloaded FF7 on his PSP

I almost beat it!

I bought FFX-2, and beat it.

My friend let me play FF3 on his DS

My brother had secretly already seen Advent Children, but he remembered that i had never seen it one day, and we watched it.

then i downloaded Dissidia, and accidentally deleted FF7 :(

my brother even forgot his password for he account he used to download it

Once PSN is back, I'll download FF7 and keep it on my PS3

Definitely VII. I love how dark the story is, and how rich and deep the world is. Sephiroth is and always will be the coolest enemy I've ever seen.

I would have to say Final Fantasy 6 is by far my favorite of the series.

My reasoning is SO many.

  • Its 2 player
  • It has two beginnings(mid way, destroyed world)
  • over a dozen playable characters
  • secret obtainable characters
  • Permanent characters that may or may not die for good
  • A story line worthy of a book
  • The first final fantasy to be rereleased in NA(along side the first release of 5)
  • The 'main character' is a girl
  • The story truely revolves around the entire cast
  • More then 2 female playable characters(no sausage fest thank you)
  • For the first time ALL characters learned all magic
  • Each character had a unique ability loosely or strongly based off a class in FF5

In order of my favorite to least, it would have to be:

  1. FF6
  2. FF7
  3. FF2
  4. FF5
  5. F8
  6. FF9
  7. FF Tactics
  8. FF1
  9. FF Mystic Quest
  10. FF x-2
  11. FF 11
  12. FF10
  13. FF12

Great Idea for a thread man.

Cheers

My Top Three are:

1. Final Fantasy VII & IX (tied)

2. Final Fantasy VI

The reason I left the others out is because while I did enjoy them, they just werent my favorites.

The above three games had everything I wanted, a rich storyline, great character development, new advances with

kickbacks to the older games, and a great degree of freedom.

I'd have to say the FF games I dont like the most are:

1. FF XIII

2. FF XII

3. FF VIII

These three, I feel, had a lot of the "adventure" aspect of the game waylaid to further new game mechanics, plot holes, and graphics, at the expense of losing some of what made Final Fantasy a great series.

For me, a good FF game doesnt rely on graphics, voice acting or an innovative new battle system, but the character's imagination and a degree of challenge that allows you to play casually, or hardcore, if that's your preference. There's more but that's a whole new post if anyone's interested.

It's interesting, me and my buddy were discussing this yesterday (well more specifically, discussing square enix + their games; but of course final fantasy was one of the main topics) And I have recently decided that overall I actually kinda dislike the series. The only 2 games that I Really enjoyed were final fantasy 6 (3 in NA) and final fantasy 9.

The earlier games were decent (for their time) but I cannot bring myself to replay them. Final Fantasy 6 would be the only installment I consider worth playing again. Everything after 6 (except for 9) IMHO is garbage, but I won't get into that XD.

Anyways, why I enjoyed 6 so much was:

1. Characters - Probably the best redeeming quality of final fantasy 6 was that they created amazing characters. Every single character (main character anyways) had a story, a personality and fit together so well.

2. Story - Albeit nothing too original or out of the ordinary (in fact Star Wars/FF 6 anyone??? I dunno I see huge similarities) But the presentation was awesome, and the whole concept of the 2 worlds (like jon bon mentioned) where the first half of the game was pretty linear then the second half was completely non-linear was an awesome concept. And like I said the characters brought it all together beautifully.

3. Kefka - Yes I know, it's a character but I have to mention this. BEST VILLAIN. EVAR. Absolutely insane, and actually succeeds in becoming a god and destroying the world, y'know just because.

And I'd like to mention about the game play, although nothing original, the idea that each character has their own specific abilities, etc. Adds a nice touch to the classic ATB system.

All-in-all, it was really the story and presentation that did it for me, and luckily the game play was good enough to keep me interested.
