Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 27, 2011 I figured i would share a nice RPG Maker that i found a few years back and used before RMXP. RPG Toolkit is a very nice RPG Maker with no real limits. I think you can have unlimited layers(might be 8). You can use as many tilesets on 1 map as you want instead of limited to one. Maps are use 32x32 tiles and you can use RMXP graphics with ease(except sprites which need a seperate graphic for each frame). Theres also an option for pixel movement. The software requires little to no scripting language. They have their own language called RPG Code. The scripting language is so vast you can create almost anything. The maker also has a feature where you can import your own .dll files and use that to extend the program even further. It can range from battlesystems, menus, even different scripting languages(maybe). Link to maker: http://rpgtoolkit.net/home/ Link to my 2 favorite and awesome games made with the program. Note: they use 100% custom everything. Dark Age EX: http://rpgtoolkit.net/games/dark-age-ex/ Dark Age 2: http://rpgtoolkit.net/games/dark-age-2/ Hope you check this nice maker out. Please try it before commenting about it. Its well worth the 7mb download. EDIT: Best thing of all that it is opensource and free. EDIT2: I forgot to mention your game will a standalone so no need for RTP runtime packages.
kellessdee 48 Report post Posted May 27, 2011 I remember you mentioning this a while back and I got it! It seems really cool. Unfortunately I am way too addicted to Ruby script right now...
Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted May 27, 2011 I used this one prior to XP and it was pretty good. The scripting was very easy to pickup. CONS: Little Community Doesnt seem to be updated in years Default everything was buggy PROS Easy to learn Very loose material requirements 8(?) Mapping Layers Useful features ... and then I saw RPG Maker and was like WOW

Ecowolfsteen 14 Report post Posted May 28, 2011 I used this a while back. I never got the feel of it because I was already using RMXP at the time. Haha. So, yeah. But it's a decent RPG Maker toolkit thing.
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted May 28, 2011 It doesn't look too good to me. I'll stick with the mighty VX.
Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted May 28, 2011 If you only use what comes with it, it sucks. But if you take the time to remake all the stuff, the features it has make it pretty powerful
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 28, 2011 If you only use what comes with it, it sucks. But if you take the time to remake all the stuff, the features it has make it pretty powerful Very. Look at Dark Age and Dark Age 2. Those games show you what you can do. And it is still showing you only a fraction. Its way better than VX and XP IMO. The only thing it lacks are the default resources. It also has trigger areas and vectors. Instead of triggering by 1 tile you can have even a 1 pixel trigger on a tile. Makes it great for pixel movement. You can even define 8 directional graphics. Its all the features i want in a maker in this one. I think im going to try to make a game with it using RMXP graphics(maybe even VX).
