Knuckles 1 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 I thought I saw it at E3. If I did, this means Nintendo is taking a step away from releasing "family-oriented" games, like Mario, Mario Kart, etc.. Though those are fun and all, it brings the Wii U and Nintendo up with the "Big Dogs" for hardcore gaming, as well with Assassin's Creed being on the market, and who knows what else? GTA V? Dead Space 3? One can hope. @Kiriashi, I don't know the precise details of the GPU yet, but it will likely outperform the Reality Synthesizer (modded Nvidia 7800) that supplies the graphics for the PS3. CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 It will still have the softer, casual games on it, but also Hard-core games. It helps that it is backwards compatible.

Joko 1 Report post Posted July 16, 2011 The wii U's controller looks a little to chunky imo. Hopefully they really slim things down and personally i dont see a reason for the controller having a screen. It's unneeded and slightly useless. I personally wouldn't use it. Plus i only like the wii for its family friendly games in the first place. Mario, zelda, donkeykong, and Starfox is what makes nintendo imo ^.^

I can guarantee you one billion percent it is the exact hardware baring a couple addons such as wireless etc games can have better graphics because the hardware has been out longer so companies can work with it much better
Joey 9 Report post Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) I looked up the specs, looked at the numbers, CPU, GPU...whatever...the numbers are slightly less than doubled on the Wii compared to the GCN. I believe the graphic cards are even different. I looked through Google AND Wikipedia, decided to quote a post from one of the Google search results. "CPU / GPU / Memory Wii - 729 mhz / 243 mhz / 24 MB - 64 MB (1TSRAM GDDR3) - 3 MB cache Gamecube - 485 mhz / 162.5 mhz / 24 MB - 16 MB (ARAM) - 3 MB cache Front-side bus bandwidth / main memory bandwidth / CPU DMIPS / cache Wii - 1.944 GB/s / 3.888 GB/s / 1691 Gamecube - 1.3 GB/s / 2.6 GB/s / 1125 Texture cache bandwidth / framebuffer bandwidth / z-buffer bandwidth Wii - 15.52 GB/s / 3.888 GB/s / 7.776 GB/s Gamecube - 10.40 GB/s / 2.6 GB/s / 5.2 GB/s" Edited July 16, 2011 by Joey

The screen wouldn't be useless at all either. It's a way for Nintendo to implement dual-screen technology into their new console. With the screen you can change items, weapons, and shields in Zelda on the fly without having going to the pause menu.
