Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted June 29, 2011 So I have been working on a Anime community, but after about 2.5 days it turns out IPB won't cut it. So I have decided to switch over to vB Publishing Suit; so I'll see how this plays out. Well I was doing some research into Anime sites/forums I noticed that out of the some 15+ sites I looked at like 95% of them where using vBulletin. And then out of that I would say about 10% where using the lates release of vBulletin. I found this kind of odd. Almost makes me feel cliche because mine will also be using vBulletin; of course lates version. I wander why so many anime communities like vB. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 I merged your two topics for you :) Before choosing IPB I had a little look at vB, it was quite cool. I understand your move since its based on the possibility of a CMS. IP.Content is lame, super lame. However I am sure you would be able to achieve what you wanted to eventually. If you liked joomla, then IP and Joomla intergration would have been your best choice. Sadly though I stopped development on the version we use here so there won't be any version for joomla 1.6... I think vB's license system is different to that of IPB, so maybe that's why you're finding sites not up to date. With IPB you can hide your version and everytthing from 3.0 to 3.1.x looks similar. Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) Yes it is different., according to topics I read on vB Community (example) if you buy the Publishing Suit you get updates and forum support even after your license expires. From what I gathered if you wish for faster support (via a ticket) then you have to redo your license. Side Note I don't see why you combined the two topics they where about two different subjects...one to discuss IPB and vB and the other was about how most Anime forums are vB based. Yeah, your first topic was just a couple of lines and i thought it was more about your new anime site rather than a vB vs IPB. So I saw them as being both about vB and your website so I merged them.
