FranklinX 37 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 I simply have every bad luck with computers. Today I called Toshiba to learn about options for upgrading or buying a computer that can play HD videos. My computer has the bare minimums but isn't having much success with many videos. This computer was brought in September and should have a one year warranty. It was brought at Wal-Mart. I was informed by support that the warranty ended in May. I was lost and confused when I heard this. I informed support about when this computer was actually brought. Support told me to call Wal-Mart. I called Wal-Mart and management is going to call me soon. I think someone tried to steal this computer and whatever their plans were the plans went wrong. I don't know if they're going to give me a new computer because most companies will NOT accept stolen or attempted stolen products that have been purchased. Does anyone have any idea what may happen in this situation?
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 What makes you think someone attempted to steal the computer?
Bob423 52 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 well, kiri, if it was already bought/checked out, and it was still in the store, someone may have tried to get some kind of free scan to steal it. thats the only thing i can think of where this would happen. RKO, just see if they'll except it. if not, go somewhere that takes used computers.
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 That's bad advice Bob. I spoke with Wal-Mart. The managers are willing to give me at least a full refund. I do have documents stating that I brought the computer and I still have the box. I also have paper work showing that the warranty expired much sooner than it should have. This kind of sounds like that someone in the company might not want to do their job (Happens sometimes). My advice would be to call the company again and try to get someone different. If you have already done that, since Wal-Mart is willing to give u a full refund just sell it and get another one there or somewhere else. My experience has always been bad with customer support, I can only wish u luck :alright:

FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 really? well then never listen to me Sure okay! I'm just joking. I would never ever resell a computer that wasn't sold honestly in a retail store.
madanchi 18 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 what do you mean it cant play HD videos? As long as your monitors resolution is 640x480 and your gpu supports that (which it will) then you should be fine, 640x480 is classed as HD btw, if you mean full HD (1920x720+) then your looking at blue ray which youll need a blu-ray player (but not if the video is downlaoded) also if you want, I'm sure theres a few people here who could suggest hardware upgrades with what rig you have atm, the main thing we need is motherboard, gpu, cpu and ram
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 Everything went good today. Wal-Mart accepted the exchange. I got a new computer. I still had to pay $240 to make up the difference for the new labtop.
