Pizza Hut Hates Drag Queens

Recommended Posts

Last weekend, Vishon Murphy put on his Sunday best—a dress and gladiator sandals—and waltzed into a Pizza Hut in Wallace, North Carolina. But instead of saying "Shantay you stay," the restaurant's general manager was all "sashay away" and forced Murphy to leave. A must-watch local news report detailing the saga is above

This is an interesting story. Do you think business have the right to remove people who are homosexuals, bisexuals, transsexuals, and other forms of social deviance?

Yes and no. Its like asking if i have to right to remove you from my home. Its their place and they can do whatever they want.

As for the no part. I dont think its right what they do but they have a say who can and cant go in.

Any group of people should be allowed to go anywhere.

If i wanted to i could open up a place to eat that only allows people who are nerds in.

A business and a house are two different things. You're comparing apples and oranges.

Businesses are needed in every society to make a good economy. If you exclude an entire group of people from buying products at businesses than you're hurting the economy and your citizens. If you kick someone else of the house then you're hurting that one person.

A drag queen is different from sexual orientation. *waits for franklins approval before continuing*

That is very true. Drag queen is part of someone's gender. Gender, sex, and sexual orientation are different. Example research data shows that Masculine men have a higher chance of being homosexual than feminine men because the majority of homosexual men desire a masculine male partner.

Pizza Hut was trying to maintain a family atmosphere, I'm sure.

Although personal opinions about drag queens being family-friendly sights may be made, generally-speaking they are still not socially accepted.

I'm personally split on the issue. I understand the manager's position in removing the patron, but at the same time as long as the man was not making a public display of himself in obvious attention seeking behavior, he did not do anything wrong. More than likely, the man is not a cross-dresser and was just making a joke, in which case I agree 100% with him being removed.

To me this is just like a casino. If they think or catch you counting cards they'll throw you out. If pizza hut doesn't want a drag queen, they'll throw them out too.

Pizza Hut is a franchise (any one of us could open one up if we had the money). Its all on what the Big Corporates think about how the manager runs their business.
