Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted July 20, 2011 Step One you have your normal sprite. Step Two Make a Breathing and Blinking Sprite. Step Three Make an event like this. and boom! You're done! There is a script to do this, but I have no idea how to get it to work outside of a XAS game.
LaDestitute 3 Report post Posted July 20, 2011 I honestly found this tutorial dissapointing, I was expecting more such as pointers on character and personality development.
isaacsol 10 Report post Posted July 20, 2011 I actually found it quite useful. There are no tutorials that can teach you to write personality, as your characters personality are a reflection of parts of your own.
LaDestitute 3 Report post Posted July 20, 2011 There just wasn't much here, and I don't find your statement about a character's personality entirely true.
Jesse66126 4 Report post Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) There just wasn't much here, and I don't find your statement about a character's personality entirely true. This tutorial deals with the literal definition of "lifeless." It has nothing to do with personality. It's a simple tutorial to make your character look like he's/she's breathing and blinking, like a living being. Instead of just sitting there staring at everything. I could post that script of how to do this, but like I said, I could never get it to work, and this method can be turned off and on. This is actually a revolutionary tutorial, if I do say so myself. Think back, how many RPG Maker games have you played where the main character just sits there, bug-eyed, not moving an inch when the player idles. (Too, too many...) From now on, none of you reading this have any excuse for making characters without an idle animation! (Bwahahaha!) SpriteZilla 1 Report post Posted June 16, 2012 Hey man everyone else can say what the want to but I like this idea. I plan to implement these kinds of sprites in my game as well and much much more. For example NPC's cooking in the backgrounds or preparing food stuffs. Also people exercising/training and eating. Talking to each other. Playing rock-paper-scissors. All of the above!!! Great post man. Peace.
