FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 21, 2011 Hi everyone! I'm having trouble playing 1080p files with my Windows Media Player and VLC player. In Windows Media player the videos are out of sync with the sound, and some videos will freeze if I try to skip ahead. VLC player's issue is that it will freeze videos for about 5 seconds, and it is annoying. I downloaded the K-Mega codec packs. That didn't make any difference. I tried using Media Player classic, but some videos will make the program completely freeze for 30 seconds if I try to skip ahead the video. My computer should be strong enough to play these videos. I have 4.0 Ram with a duel core 2.00GHz and 2.00GHz. I am at a lost for answers. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted July 21, 2011 VLC should work just fine, but if not then try quicktime. Also, did you download said videos? If so the source could be just out of sync. And with VLC, what do you mean by freeze? Does it happen at the beginning or in the middle of your video playing? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

VLC player is your best bet for every single media type in the world lol. Would you post your graphics card. that may have a big impact on your system. HD video is best used with a good graphics card. especially at 1080p. My laptop with 6gb of ram and a dual 2.53ghz cpu has a hard time. its got a decent video card. gtx250m gpu. ForeverZer0 44 Report post Posted July 23, 2011 Its just a codec problem. Download K-Lite Codec Pack and your problems will disappear. This also enables you to play pretty much every single type of media file. If you have a 64-bit OS, download these x64 codecs, as well. Do the "Lot's of stuff" install, though I suggest unchecking the "MediaInfo" option. It just makes an annoying shell extension to your context menu that you will never use.
