Freddy Kreuger in Mortal Kombat

The fourth downloadable character for Mortal Kombat 9 is Freddy Kreuger. See video (official) below:

 

 

Some people don't like it and would rather have a MK character. I will agree, but I still like the idea of Freddy Kreuger in MK.

I'm not impressed. His move set looks repetitive. None of his attacks look cool.

That can be said for even the characters they have now. Example is Shang Tsung's fatality (1st one)...

 

 

 

It's a direct copy of the Jokers in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.

 

 

 

Not to mention many of the moves and attacks are nothing new; so quit frankly all the characters are repetitive. Plus not to mention many of the characters attacks (regular and special) are not good; Liu Kang's 1st fatality is lame.

 

So overall your opinion is bleak at best because it can be said about the whole game.

Old Freddy was boss, scared me. New one is pretty good, but something is really weird with him. Can't pinpoint it, but... :sweatdrop:

 

I just adore the Mortal Kombat games and movies, and Freddy. So if even a chance, I will try this out! :D

They can't really make the old Freddy as the new actors face is different. People just need to stop weeping of stuff they can't control.

I think they could have made the old Freddy, they do have control of what they can do. Robert Englund isn't dead, so they could have had him do the voice. Like Crimson said, they could make him look however they want because it's computer graphics. It might be because this recent Freddy is more recognized these days 'cause of the remake.

 

It's whatever, though. I would have preferred the Robert Englund Freddy, but no matter which one they use we can all agree that his fatalities look pretty sweet :D

 

In fact.....everyone's fatalities look f***in' awesome, I'll have to pick this up when I have the spare cash. I haven't played a MK game since MK2 on snes.....and MK Mythologies: Sub Zero on N64 (god, I HATED that game as a kid lol)

 

one question remains for me, though....I'm out of the MK loop.....what happened to Goro?

I got excited when i first saw this... til i saw it was the new freddy. I hated the new freddy. The original was just a murderer.. they turned him into a pervert... and ruined the franchise. Not to mention, Robert England did a better job... Scream 4 should have been released before Nightmare on Elm Street, just so they could have listened to Sidney:

lol...uh, Lizzie...Hollywood threw that rule about remakes out the window a looooooong time ago. There are a few remakes that I like better than the originals (ex: The Hills Have Eyes. THE FIRST ONE. The 2nd one is dead to me and doesn't exist.), but generally remakes, or really generally movies, of this generation are bad. No...they're terrible. No...they're terri-bad. (It might sound unfair...but that's my opinion)

I was referring to the movie not the game...and yes die hard MK fans are weeping!

Actually....

 

 

 

Craven's original script detailed Krueger as a child molester, which Craven said was the "worst thing" he could think of (this idea was later recycled for the character's background in the 2010 remake). The decision was made to instead make Krueger a child murderer in order to avoid being accused of exploiting the spate of highly publicized child molestation cases in California around the time A Nightmare on Elm Street went into production.

 

 

 

So by all rights it was his original idea to make him a child molester; so they did not ruin the franchise as they went with Craven's original idea.
