FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 27, 2011 Is it possible to get a new IP address legally? I am thinking about changing my IP Address because of some issues.
kellessdee 48 Report post Posted July 27, 2011 There are a few ways to "change" your IP address...if you don't mind me asking what are the issues with your current IP? I can't really see a reason in wanting to change your IP address, except perhaps for anonymity; in which that case, a proxy ip address should suffice. [EDIT: I know that 100% anonymity on the internet is almost impossible...but proxies should be good enough for most anonymity purposes] Your internet service provider provides your IP address so perhaps speaking with them might do something (i am not sure), but here is some information on possible solutions: http://whatismyipaddress.com/change-ip EDIT2: I am going to move this topic to Computer/Internet/Tech forums, as it would be better suited there :)

Polraudio 122 Report post Posted July 28, 2011 You can only change your local IP. The only way to change your internet IP would be to ask your ISP.
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted July 28, 2011 I changed my IP through getting a completely new wireless router. You could ask your provider for help, or use an IP changer. Its completely safe and completely legal. This one is best. Hotspot Shield. I had to use it to get on the Shur'tugal forums. My IP was banned because of spammers (thanks to my provider of course! lol) in my area and the admins couldn't help unless I changed my IP.
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 28, 2011 You got IP banned somewhere didn't you Franklin :P Yep! I'm a member of a movie site. I gave the director some respectful criticism, that is allowed in the rules. He got pissed off and banned me. Very unprofessional I changed my IP through getting a completely new wireless router. You could ask your provider for help, or use an IP changer. Its completely safe and completely legal. This one is best. Hotspot Shield. I had to use it to get on the Shur'tugal forums. Your IP will still be the same but will appear different for everyone else because its just like using a proxy server. Just remember one thing. Your internet speed will be slower because you will be using a proxy server through that. So if you have a slow internet connection to begin with expect it to be slower. CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted July 29, 2011 Actually, it makes connections faster for me and I have a terrible internet connection, but it could just be that way for me. It forces your whole IP to change while the program is running; no one but you will know you have a "fake" IP running but you. Its very trustworthy. Just remember to turn it off before you turn off your PC! xD
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) I need a program that will keep the new IP the same every time I use the program. I want to buy things online as well. Edited August 1, 2011 by RATED-RKOFRANKLIN
kellessdee 48 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 I need a program that will keep the new IP the same every time I use the program. I want to buy things online as well. Why do you need same IP everytime? Dynamic IP Addresses change themselves every time the user reconnects; Therefore there are many people who have IP Addresses that aren't the same every time they use the internet. Maybe you should look into getting an ISP that uses dynamic IP addressing, so then you can just disconnect and reconnect to get assigned a new IP Address? CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted August 2, 2011 Hmm...I think I could find something like that, but it might cost money. :sweatdrop:
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted August 2, 2011 Your best bet is to just contact your ISP. Maybe you should look into getting an ISP that uses dynamic IP addressing, so then you can just disconnect and reconnect to get assigned a new IP Address? Most ISP's these days are using static. Well all of the ones in my area are. Its kind of hard to find out if they are dynamic or static unless you talk to a tech person who works for the ISP. Most people who sell you the internet connection dont know what they are talking about. The guy who hooked up my internet knew nothing about networking(didnt even know what ISP was) lol.
