Map Sizes

Question

What would you say is better,

Make ever map a certain size, 20 x 20 for example, and split the big maps in smaller 20 x 20 maps, and add trees at unneeded space of smaller maps, or make all different sized maps, small size for small map and big sizes for big maps?

You should always have maps of different size it gives a nicer look to your game. As far as big maps go I always cut them down, because if they are 2 big the player gets bored and its so much harder to have nice big maps as far as mapping. I usually never make anything bigger than 50x50 but its really up to your own judgment there. Hope that answers your questions :sweatdrop:.

Cheers :alright:

The smallest possible is the best possible. Always.

Of course, large maps will be necessary for certain things, but whenever you can, cut down the map size.

The only reason the map dimension limits are so high (500x500 I believe) is so you can plan things out.

I would never go over 80, and that's really pushing it.

Unless your doing a town or city, the map shouldn't even be large like Kirishi said.
