Today I came across this article about Apple. I already knew apple took profit maximizing to the extreme, everyone does. So I was overly surprised to read about Mike Daisy's trip to the place where apple products start out.

He interviewed scores of workers and toured the factories while posing as a US businessman and was shocked to learn that people were literally being worked to death to meet Western gadget lust. From long hours to inhumane and robotic working and living conditions to suicide and child labour, Daisey saw things that switched off his innate desire to always have the latest piece of kit.

Daisey said that the general public had become so cut off from the means of production that we were largely ignorant to the fact that the factories that make our gadgets are installing nets around their buildings to catch suicidal workers.

I voted boycotting apple; but the truth is I have been boycotting them for a long time. I was originally only boycotting apple because of the fact that they were trying to monopolize the computer market and because their products were a scam...but now I have a new reason. This is just absolutely sad; even after using cheap labour, working people to death they still go and overprice their shiny pc-wannabes.

 

But, I digress.

Yeah its like they're sucking every cent they can. They release all these new generations for the fanboys, however can you really be immoral for taking advantage of that stupidity? Also locking up features until you buy the new firmware. They're pricks.

 

I'm not going to buy another apple product. These corporations have no regard whatsoever for human life.

 

Though I could do something by at least spreading the word, having a forum, but really, 2 votes? Either you guys are lazy or part of the problem. Fully disappointed. Go play on your iphones, hope they shock you before you buy the next generation in a few months.

if anyone knows my feelings towards Apple, you know anything that comes out of my mouth is 100% biased, and even more so now that I know their factory conditions. I knew some company factories are discustingly horrific, but this tops the list - there might be worse, i think i may have even heard of worse (but only one, can't remember that well).

 

edit: I've never once bought an Apple product, so none of those options apply to me as all of them act as if I've purchased an item from them - I boycotted them from the start :P
