Polraudio 122 Report post Posted October 28, 2011 I like the theme of the site altho if you are trying to get members i would allow guests to view the forums and stuff. I took 1 look at it and seen that i had to register and closed the page within 5sec.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted October 28, 2011 Totally agree with Pol. I even registered to check it out, and got an email saying my account was in queue for validation or whatever. BAAAAD idea for a starting out website. Most people who join and get that email will forget about the site..

Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 No emails - No Approving :alright: :alright: I would not do this. E-mail validation is okay; even for a new community. It's just Admin Approval that is not recommended.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Yeah that's what I meant. I don't mind the email thing. It should just be the standard procedure: >User Inputs Email Address >Your site sends validation link. >User clicks it and is approved.

Good looking out Noob Saibot..thanks You are using SMF if you check their site for Mod/Add-on that refers to Stop Forum Spam (http://www.stopforumspam.com); in fact I did a quick search and found: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1519. It can check e-mails and IP address for known spammers. I hope this helps. EDIT Here are a few more SMF options: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=search;basic_search=stop+forum+spam Edited October 29, 2011 by Noob Saibot
