kellessdee 48 Report post Posted November 7, 2011 Well then, it seems like you have a bad case of the microsoft windows. Right click on My Computer > Properties Then click (in the left panel) "Device Manager" Look for "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" Make sure you have something listed...if it is listed, and recognized, try updating your drivers. If it's not listed, or not recognized (either missing, or has a question mark for an icon) then we have probably found the issue and can go from there. Polraudio 122 Report post Posted November 7, 2011 Try restarting? Restarting fixes 90% of all problems. Sometimes mine gets no sound at all and i have to restart.
Bob423 52 Report post Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) the problem isnt a lack of sound, its the lack of ability to turn on an icon that lets me open a slide bar thing that changes the volume. which i can do via my keyboard (fn + pageup or dwn) but it is easier, and more convenient to use the icon. also this computer was upgraded to win7 from xp, which causes me to not have a sound driver installed...computers are confusing... i'll restart my computer in a bit though, and see if that works edit: restarting worked thanks pol :biggrin_002: Edited November 7, 2011 by Bob423
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted November 7, 2011 edit: restarting worked thanks pol :biggrin_002: Glad it worked. Whenever a problem comes restart and if its still there then post :P EDIT: Upgrading from one OS to another is generally a bad idea. Its better to do a full clean install. CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted November 14, 2011 It might be your sound device. My labtop did that once when it couldn't recognize the device. I was going to suggest what kellessdee post, fixed it for me. Then update your drivers and actual computer, restart and then see if it is fixed.
