Emanzi 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) Showcasing my sprites and styles, feel free to critique, comment e.t.c ( lets try keep productive though ). To start off here is a sprite model I made about an hour ago, not yet animated. I made a few outfits for a sprite a while ago that was intended for a VX game Lastly here is a chibi manga styled sprite of yuki onna in some lingerie ^_^ so what do you think? Serge 3 Report post Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) so what do you think? Really like the first one. It has a more "mature" feeling, compared to the rtp style and most others that I've seen. Never liked the VX style, so my opinion on tHE second one doesn't matter. And thirdly SPAGUETTI LIMBS! Now, joking aside, it looks too flat, it needs a bit more depth to it, add some shadows to it and it will look great. FranklinX 37 Report post Posted November 9, 2011 Your sprites are very unique! I get an old school vibe from your graphics.
Emanzi 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2011 Thanks! I re-colored the third sprite, this time I added a lot more tone and color that the previous one. I think it has a "pop" now. I love old school pallets, maybe thats why I have a retro/old-school vibe going on. Here is the pallet I use, its from a game-boy game called "Spheric Blue" the games Japanese but I liked the color scheme. I also use a NES pallet sometimes but I cant find that one ( might have acidentaly deleted it ). Their tons off pallets online though. The more limited ones like Commodores need a lot of skill to use effectively, like dithering and advanced color/shade techniques e.t.c. I also like the first one the most, I'll go more in depth into it and design a few characters...
Emanzi 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) I drew some cheesecake for the third sprite, didn't exactly know where to put it so... Here is the pencil sketch No color yet, I might work on that... Edited November 10, 2011 by Emanzi
Heretic86 25 Report post Posted November 17, 2011 I think the first one is the style that I like the most, as it is not very common to see styles like that, well, and it is the graphic most players will associate with their characters, thus, it is the one that should be polished to perfection. That sprite needs natural body shadows. How are you at animating your sprites?
Emanzi 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2011 I think so too... I'm fairly good/O.K with animation but I'm still an amateur ( I basically use onion skin layering methods and then the rest a lot of editing and running the animation ) I intend to use 8-9 frames of animation for this sprite style, here is what I am working on as of now, its the side view walking cycle for the female sprite I made ( as the reference for this style ). This took me a while to get fluid since its my first time working with more than 4 frames ( default frame limit for rpg maker ) I'm thinking of making a slight off-set so she looks like she is stepping since rpg makers mapping engine sort of slides everything across, also the shoulders a little rigid but I'm working on that.
