Usually that means the picture you are importing already has an alpha transparency channel. Try using the images and see if the "transparent color" is actually transparent in-game.

Weird thing I found when dealing with the default tile transparencys in photoshop is that if you color sample that color, you have to use a different layer with a 50% opacity, then merge the layers for it to come across correctly in game. I figure that might help someone...

If you are using photoshop, I wouldn't even bother with making a "transparent" color.

If you add the alpha channel yourself in photoshop, and just make background 0% alpha (transparent), then you do not even need to import the picture. Copy + paste right to the folder and it will work.

When you choose a color in the import tool, all the tool does is take every pixel with that color and sets the alpha to 0 for you, in case you do not have a tool/image editor that supports alpha channels.

I meant the partially transparent color not the completely one. One thing I kind of wish we had was multiple levels of transparency in tilesets like can be done with the Picture feature and its support of 16 bit transparencies.

Ok So I just got RPG maker Xp, and am having a lot of fun with it, but I keep encountering this problem that's been holding me back in my progress.

In the first pic my party is at the top and the enemy (Frog) is at the bottom, the battler works correctly without a hitch.

But whenever I try to load custom battlers, (or sometimes battlers that we're in the game already)
I get the error you can see in the second pic where the hound is cut in half. It keeps scrolling through the selected row of sprites, as it is supposed to, but for some reason there is a gap between the images causing it not to fluidly animate. I've gone into the advanced configuration and set up the hound's battler in the custom settings, and it still doesn't work.

Edit: I'm also using the Chrono trigger battle add-on.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.

Hi there new to the forum so I'm creating a map and wanted a pirate ship in it, the problem was I couldn't find a sprite big enough to look like a real ship (Creating my maps with the tilesets that has everything of the outside and everything of the inside.) and after hours of searching yesterday I gave up and created a pic of a ship by making it on a separate map then screenshooting it and place it on map.

I resized the picture so I could show it as an object instead of a picture and all works but I need to make my character walk on the ship at least till the ramp (I can make him teleport to show the ship bigger if nothing else can be done).

Problem is my character is walking under it and I don't have ticked on top option and can't figure it out why it doesn't want to walk over instead of under.

I attached a picture to show you.

Only solution that I may try if it works which will be very time consuming is making empty events across the water were the ship will be so character can't walk under it.

      What do you think people?

      Thanks for the help.
