9 Frames of Animation: Breaking the Limits!

Recommended Posts

I need some help with this, its a 9 frame animation of a side view walking cycle. This is my first time working with more than 4 frames of animation.

I thought this would be the best place to get some quick feed back.

Is the motion life like and smooth?

Is the anatomy fairly realistic or not?

What can I do to improve this?

I also think theirs a script somewhere for rpg maker xp that breaks the animation limits of sprite sheets. Could I get a little help digging that up also. Thanks.

Take a look at the right leg as it moves back. It looks like it lifts up instead of the left leg lifting. The left leg remains perfectly straight, as if the template is only standing on their left leg. To me, it appears to be a back and forth cycle instead of a just a forward cycle. The top half that all looks just fine, but specifically what I think needs to be fixed is as there is suposed to be weight on the right leg, as it moves back, right leg should be straight, and the left leg should bend as it comes forward. Kind of hard to explain.

Agreed with Heretic, it looks kinda like forward moon walking, need to have a slight lift in the leg that would not have weight on it as the other leg is on the ground. Not a lot probably only a few pixels in difference.

I did notice no head motion at all. Need some kind of head bob, or a back and forth motion, ideally both.

I think I get it, hows this...

It was the walk cycle, your right, it sort of looked backwards plus their was an unusual offset their with the body, another reason maybe was the still frame, I cut it out of the animation for a more smoother look plus I set the frames where the legs are most apart one pixel down to simulate the head moving ( sort of like in rtp sprites ).

I think it looks better but their is still some slight rigidness, maybe mostly in the shoulders...any suggestions?

It looks complete now happy.png

Agreed, good job. That is much smoother and seems far more realistic. Keep up the good work!
