Best manga film

Recommended Posts

My recent favorite is Akira. It is amazing.

The music. The feeling. The action.

It's almost like a real account of something that has or might happen.

*runs from the vampire* :D

Sorry about being picky, but it's in my nature to be bung hole retentive. No offense intended by this.

'Manga" are books. "Anime" are animated features, or tv episodes. Or, if you were around in the eighties, it would be "Japanimation."

And my favorite anime movie is a tie between the Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and Escaflowne: Girl in Gaea.

Oh, we're speaking anime, eh?

.hack//sign is my all time favorite.

It has less action than some others I have seen, but the overall mood of the characters is something I've never seen before.

I like the entire concept of being in a game and never able to log out, causing tons of pressure to be placed on Tsukasa's shoulders.

^.^

Actually, I was right on the topic (anime and manga).

Anyways, have you seen the Rebirth of Fusion movie?

That is the movie with Janemba. Goku even goes super saiyan 3 in that movie. That sequence is pretty amazing to watch.

I never really watched DBZ. I tend to stay away from children's shows. But I am a big fan of the Love Hina Winter and Summer Specials.

Actually, I tend to watch Harem Anime. Anyone ever seen "Ichigo 100%" or "Shuffle!"?

What's addictive about it? Oh, you mean the over-used, over-done zipping back and forth with near invisible limbs launching into a series of pointless and, I'm afraid to say, repetitive martial arts manuevers that, if done in a speed that actually made sense, would have made my own instructor laugh? No thanks, I've seen it. Or perhaps you are referring to the over-abundant cycling of badly done oriental cliche and the re-writing of chinese legend in terms deigned for a nine-year old to understand?

Thanks, but if I want to watch Journey to the East, I'd just put in a DvD of Saiyuki.

I never got into DBZ, but I have watched it.

It's Sailor Moon for little boys.

You're reffering to what Dark Dragon said right? But then you said:
I never got into DBZ, but I have watched it.

Maybe its just me, but thats a confusing, saying that after you said how much you dont like it.

I used to love watching Dragon Ball Z, although that was atleast a couple of years ago. Kept me entertained. I dont watch any Manga or Anime shows though, I dont even think they are played here. Cant miss what you havent seen.

Eh, what's confusing?

I have watched it, thus I have an opinion on it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be more non-sensical to despise something you've never experienced? I dislike it, yes. Hate it, even, because due to that one show most people state-side think every single anime in the world is exactly like that.

I meant what I said. I've seen it. Never liked it.

But, I'm off topic. This is supposed to be about your favorite anime, not your least.

Daze you are in this forum right ? then you play RPGs right? Then you like unrealistic stuff right?

Then your previous post doesn't make sense, invisible punches are just like so called "RPG magic"

well you don't like it I LOVE IT, but from your storys I can see you prefer realistic stuff, so do I, in fact in my project I'm not willing to do any super natural powers, but the most thing I like in DBZ and GT is not only fights, didn't you see the story?the plot line, IT'S GREAT(sorry for goin off topic if I did so)

Sure, no argueing the story's great. But it's great because it's essentialy the classic chinese legend Journey to the East retold with space aliens. Besides that, it's pretty much "evil guy pops up, we barely beat him, rinse, repeat."

If you want a deep, involved plotline, watch Outlaw Star, or Shuffle!, or ::shivers:: Inuyasha.

If you have broadband, I can show you where to Torrent them.

erm...truthfully, don't get mad at me for this, but I never saw a story in DBZ...there really wasn't one, not when I watched it, anyway...aside from that, to get on topic, I think that Tokyo Mew Mew is a good anime (yes! I know it's a girl show ><). I also enjoy Fullmetal Alchemist (especially the movie to it), and my absolute favorite at current is Eureka seveN. So, in order from most favorite to least-most favorite (if that makes sense):

Eureka seveN

Tokyo Mew Mew

s-CRY-ed

Fullmetal Alchemist

After that...animes just...don't appeal much to me...only certain things attract my attention, and those 4 animes have those certain things. (And for anyone who says "Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew are almost the same show" I don't believe that...I've heard it said, but I don't believe it...maybe I would if I didn't see the crappy 4kids production...but I HATE sailor moon with a passion)

Ummm...Dragon Ball Z and GT are awesome for their imaginative ability, just like how in Samurai X - It's not like a person can move that fast and stay in the air for five minutes in one single jump! Most TV shows are escapes from reality which brings out the human imaginative feature. I do get your point though - it is repetative - but i still like it. :D

I'm not saying it has to be realistic; I wouldn't watch anime if that's what I wanted. I just think that if a show claims to be about martial arts, it might contain more than the basics of one or two styles done at super speed while flying. And, if you have a theme, to try not to lose it half-way through the first season.

But I digress; I'm still off topic.

Manga = Comic book

Anime = Animation

But that was already cleared up, anyway, I haven't really developed a favorite show, though with anime I love the type of art style that is used, making a lot of my drawings a bit wapanese-ish. Some shows like Last Exile, Full Metal Alchemist, and nearly any video game-based anime draw my attention.

Hmmm, well I personally am a sucker for anything that has Hayao Miyazaki's name on it (Totoro, Laputa, Mononoke, Nausicaa, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Porco Rosso, and even Kiki's Delivery Service. Also, his film of Lupin III was pretty cool too).

Of course, I love Akira too, and Ghost in the Shell. There are more I like, but I can't be bothered to list all the titles...

However. The hands-down best anime film I have ever seen is Grave of the Fireflies. It's an epic World War 2 drama set in Japan and it's about these two kids who lose everything and have to take care of themselves. And the older brother has to take care of the little sister who doesn't really grasp the full intensity of the situation they are in.

It is one of the most moving animes ever, and if you haven't seen it yet, go. GO NOW, and watch it.

PRINCESS MONONOKE

My friend tried to get me to watch that last year. From what I've seen, I thought it was a chick flick. Maybe I'll check out some scenes from it and if it gets bloody, IF and only IF it gets bloody, I'll watch it..
