RageMage 5 Report post Posted January 1, 2012 So it's the new year and I was feeling a bit bored so I thought it would be an interesting time to see how this goes. The title pretty much says it all, where were you this time last year what were your plans for the year and how well did those pan out? Just to finish up what are your goals and plans for this year? I honestly was right here at my computer this time last year, trying to find a job. Sadly the only big plan I had for 2011 didn't pan out, here I am 365 day's later and still unemployed. Other than my big plan I did succeed at a few of my smaller goals but they really aren't even noteworthy enough to mention. As far as my goals for this year go I still have the big one, find a job, but this year I also plan to learn to program as I'm currently studying C++, I also plan to get my game's storyline completed enough to the point that I would feel it is ready to start actually developing. Marked 197 Report post Posted January 1, 2012 This time last year, I was working 6 days a week so time off for me was rare. Of course the new years is a public holiday so I got 4 days off work to just relax in the sun all day, it was great Its Summer here in New Zealand at this time. My plans for 2011 mainly involved study related things, which were badly interrupted when a quake (on just the 2nd day of uni for the year) made our campus inaccessible and despite getting an A+ that semester, my grades were down on last year. In fact overnight we had a 5.1 and 5.5 aftershock which is plenty to wake you up. I also had plans to release a new website at gdunlimited.net to replace this one which I started at the end of 2010. For several reasons the project stopped and started development. Largely through lack of motivation, and partly through the difficulty of code required to achieve the level of forum integration I wanted. I have a lot of goals for this year, mostly personal, but it would be awesome to release that new site live in 2012 having started it in 2010. Polraudio 122 Report post Posted January 2, 2012 Did the same thing as i did last year. Enjoy my vacation by gaming hardcore before i go back to school. Plans for this year is to get a job before i go back to school in august and make some money to upgrade my graphics card and pay off some debts. My other goal is to help make gdunlimited a success. madanchi 18 Report post Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) last year around this time I was at home enjoying myself along with depression, worry, pressure and feeling crap. My career path at uni was in a critical state, my choices wheren't great, people around me seemed to either conciously or subconciously control me and make decisions for me and social life whent to a low. This year right now, I'm at home, unemployed, huge optimism, happy, life falling back into good standing, motivated, ambitious, doing what I love most (art and creativity), better social life, more enthusiastic, even had a week intern at job and generally far bloody better. My plans are huge for this year, I know I probably wont achieve them 100% in 1 year but there's so much stuff I want to do as they were hindered for the last 2 years+, mainly to do with my career in games development. kellessdee 48 Report post Posted January 3, 2012 About this time last year I started college, for computer programming. I had for the previous 2 years made a failed attempt at a love interest -- we were going to (or were supposed) teach english in foreign countries and travel the world...and well, that ended up not so well and I moved back in with my mom, eventually deciding to get into, what I had always dreamed of -- programming. Since then, not too much has changed. My plans have evolved slightly, I originally had planned to find some kind of programming job (or IT or whatever, as long as I could afford my lifestyle and a place to live) and start an independent game development company on the side (and possibly move to that full-time if it turned out worth it). That, and I was learning Ruby +RGSS, as I had just gotten back into the RPG Maker scene. Although I still have major plans for the game development company, rather than just becoming a computer programmer, I have applied (still waiting for a response) for a university program to get my Bachelor's of Applied Information Sciences (primarily dealing with System Security), and hope that pans out. So my plans for this year (and the next 3 years xD), buckle down and learn as much about computers as I can, and get the best grades I can... without going completely insane (if it isn't too late already :o), and still putting work into my hobby -- game design!
