Hi all,

 

Today is the day. Well not really, the day is in the unforeseeable future, but today is a big step in the release of the new site.

 

By this stage its pretty much set in stone that its going to be called Game Dev Unlimited.

 

My main objective is to get some traffic flowing to this page. So this topic is open for all GDU discussion, so long as you click this link:

Yes I am aware. I had to stop development so I disabled login altogether and made a secret login url for staff instead.

I guess the plan is to get the staff using only GDU when the forums are more stable to use (which is just a few bugs) and then we have to make the decision when the right time is to make the switch. There are large number of components that make up the concept of GDU which have not been coded and will take some time to be developed. So while we can make the switch very soon, it may be have an undesired anti-climax effect.

First, people might think that this is for like every game maker

and then they see that it's only for RMVXA RMVX and RMXP.

Second, I would kinda prefer a name like RPG Maker's Haven

but I just don't really like the name Game Dev Unlimited, even though Ik my opinion won't matter..

well the point of the name is to show people that it IS for every game maker, we just have RMXP, VX, and ace as our main 3

My guess would be that theres going to be a forum restructure and that rpg maker and such boards are going to be gone and replaced with a more general one.

Who said its for those specific engines? Your opinion matters, just not with this because its decided. The domain has already been purchased.

Bob is correct. Once I fix up a few theme errors I want to start getting staff and other members (perhaps depending on their post count) using GDU while RMXPU is still live. Everything is already operating, I'm just not letting anyone in because I need to develop the content areas and other features, such as project cards v3 (though that is low priority). If I released it now, it would just look like a theme change when its so much more.

Code? Does it say you are logged in at the top-right? Code will show up on the homepage for those who are logged in, but that shouldnt be possible without actually loging in...

I'm glad you like it :) Yup, the green is here to stay, there's no way I have enough time to thinking about changing the design. This was actually my first concept design, (12th December 2010)

 

I hope everyone forgets about this so they get excited when it actually goes live

personally i liked the reds puples and blue swirly thingies then the monsters and stuff, but thats just me, they both look great. in the end, your site, your choice, i doubt the home page is gonna turn people away *cough*makethehomepagecustomizablesoeveryonecanhavedifferenthomepagesandicanhavemyswirlieswhenitsupandrunninganditsafeaturepeoplewouldlike*cough* wow, that one actually hurt..
