Hey, I have recently re-installed RPG maker XP after what has been YEARS in order to develop a game, and I just had a question.

 

Back when I used to use it, I swear there was a special version available (like a fan edit) of RPG maker xp, which had it's gui changed with additional features etc.

 

I was wondering if it was still around somewhere and if so, if anyone knew where to find it?

 

If you can help, that would be great!

The only other version, other than the official Enterbrain release, that I know of was an illegal, buggy, and unstable version that never worked as expected and left a lot untranslated. I don't intend to name it as it is a waste of time when you have the official version already. Don't worry this version didn't have any special features or anything other than the fact it was incompatable, I do not know if you can find it anywhere anymore.

 

There was still RPG Maker VX which changed some things, but it can hardly be called an improvement over XP.

If it turns out that VX is the one you was searching for you may want to wait until the English version of RPG Maker VX Ace is released, which I think the expected release date for it is sometime in March.

It was RMXP Postality_Knight_Edition, and like Rage said it was a piece of garabage. Don't go looking for it as you'll just be wasting your time espically if you already have the legal version.

Well, postaility knights was all that was around back in the days when enterbrain hadn't released an english version. I even preferred it to the official english version when it came out, but like the others said, its inferior. There's also this super annoying font error you get with scripts if you try and play a game made in postaility knights when you have the official english version installed.

Hmm ok, thanks guys, but is it possible to mess with the gui of the RPG Maker XP? I have a trial version of VX, and while I do like quite a lot of what it offers, it is missing one of the key things that I like about XP, that being the battle character animations (as they will play a vital role in the game I am making), and that when I tested the VX battle system, there seems to be nothing amazing to the default battle system it has in place @_@.

yea VX's battle system is kidna sucky. scripts are your best friend, never underestimate their power

wow thanks for the list mate, but yeah I am trying to stick with the initial system the XP offers, but with my own twist added based on influences from RBO and LP.

 

Ultimately it comes down to what I can achieve with the script in XP which will decide which system I use, because VX is great, but the only thing that makes it better for me is the initial stuff offered via the GUI, as it saves a lot of time designing scripts.

 

That and I am not too familiar with Ruby, so gotta get used to the language hehe
