My first attempt at a side view battler

Recommended Posts

Phew. It takes a LOT longer making that first sprite than I ever would have thought. dragonshock.gif Now that the basis is down though I'm hoping the rest won't be quite so bad, because I've still got a LOOONG way to go.

Anyways, here's what I've got so far.

Edit: WOO! DONE! biggrin.png

Looks great so far man, just need to make sure you remember to change the shading after you shift everything over. The animation will seem less jarring that way. Particularily on his hcest and inner right arm.

Don't forget about changin the other leg, and remember perspective. When he shifts stance one foot will go 'behind' the other making it either 'higher' or 'darker'.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the chest on the damaged pose. x3 I might go back and smooth it out a bit later. it's not as noticeable in its actual size though.

Thanks for the feedback. :P

Added the woozy pose

Added advance, attack and retreat poses to first post. I know the jump from attacking to retreating is quite hard right now, but for now I'm too lazy to make a midway frame. I'll fix it later. :P

I'll fix it later. tongue.png

Looks great man, but as my father always says "Never put something off you can do today, for you never know what tomorrow brings." It's ok to plan to do things later, but make sure you don't have too many 'ill do it later's.

-Cheers

Lol. Well, I've been really bad about infinite procrastination in the past, but not today! XD

I've got two attack animations now, one of which i think looks tons better, but just for fun here's both of them.

Hmmm, I assume it's the one on the left. It's really hard to tell what these will look like when they are small. Definitely doing a great job though, love it.

It was the right one that I liked better actually. :P Seeing them in-game though made me realize that they both suck. Here's the new attack.

Super smooth! Much better. You are definitely a step ahead of me.

I like the look of the next character. It would be cool to see the dark aura around his hand potentially encompass his entire body during an attack.

Encompassing his entire body? Hmm... I had a different idea for regular attacks, but that may be neat for spellcasting.

Here's some of what I have now, Yet again, the attack seems to be the hardest part. x3 other than that though, I think he's coming along faster than the first!

Those look excellent.

Yeah I was definitely thinking magic attack for the whole body thing.

I do have one critique though. Is it possible to have his hair move at all? I think that would complete the animation much more. Maybe not on each one, but definitely on the sword swing animation, seems odd without hair movement. Specifically for the one where he is holding the orb and bobbing up and down(top left), try maybe having the orb bounce opposite to him, so it would look like he is bouncing and the orb is floating/hovering in his hand(may not work).

I cant wait to see these in action!
