Leon 55 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 Hey, I just wanted to say that I have talked to a couple members that don't seem to enjoy these ideas all too much. It makes it too 'Businessy'. It is supposed to be a game making forum, and, to be honest, you guys are sucking the fun out a little bit. Personally, I wouldn't join a site that treated it more like a business rather than a friendly community.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 o.o well...for one...I wish the other members would say something...that way we can sort it out...second of all, I didn't realize we were making it "business-y". If I had known, I wouldn't have added anything...I really don't see anything business-y about the site right now, though...I know MiDas Productions is hosted here, but is that really business-y? We're hosting another site is all...How MiDas Prod acts isn't meant to affect RMXP Unlimited in anyway...other then that...I'm not sure what I've done to make it feel like a business, instead of a fun place...I mean...I'm adding arcade games right now...so...I don't really understand... Leon 55 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Well, For example, i'd recommend not giving your game it's own sub-forum. I mean, everybody is going to want that, and soon it will be a pain to keep track of htem all. Then, if you don't do it when they want it, and they see yours, they will probably leave because of being 'not treated fairly' Also, does mandatory staff leaves really need to be logged? I mean, that is just a little crazy...
Dark Dragon 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 I'm to2ly with Leon, things lately have been goin' a bit outa hand I dunno how, but yo guys lost teh kewlness..except fer a very few, its just like Jalkson said, its nut teh forum that matters, it's teh people B)
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Yeah, the air is growing stale at Rmxpunlimited.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Yeah...Leon's probably right about the whole thing with the subforum of my game...now that I think about it, it does seem rather unfair, doesn't it? I can fix that easy...as for the log of the staff...I JUST heard of that...as such, I am removing it as we speak. So, that's two problems out of the way. Anything else I can do to make this forum seem more fun? Also, I am unsure yet as of what my plans are with the MiDas Productions wiki...I am actually thinking of changing some things around regarding that...we'll have to see...chances are, MiDas Productions will be hosted here, but if I do that, it will be in a subdomain with its own forum and everything, that way it is completely set apart from the main RMXP Unlimited site. I did just now notice the "e-mail" things...I'm guessing that is because of the staff e-mails that Saibot has set up, correct? If so, let me know...we'll probably get rid of them...I see no point in having them around...I mean...if someone wants to contact the staff, they could always just use the normal e-mails, right? So, anything else I can do to make this place more fun? I honestly want to try to make this place better, and not business-y. Also, if any of these problems are a direct result of what Saibot said yesterday, I apologize...I am seriously wondering what to do...I have this feeling that the main problem is him holding the server...if worst comes to worst, I may have to move us back to 110mb.com, that way we won't have to worry about Saibot...I WILL attempt to see if I can get him to stop arguing and run everything by me first, though...if that doesn't work, we may have to make a lot of changes that I hope not to have to make. Once again, I ask the question once more. I really want to get this place to be more fun, so, what can I do to remove the business-y part, and make it more fun? Leon 55 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 My biggest beef was the rough edges. It needs to be laid back. I mean, nobody gets on a game site to check updates all the time, they come for help and to share their ideas. As for the objective of 'fairness', with few exceptions, I think all members, staff and non staff alike, should be treated equally. I view the staff more as 'judges'. They sit on the sidelines until needed. Until then, they are just a member, like everyone else. They should have the same perks as the members. Humble is an important subject. We dont want to end up like the Orzhov of hte City of Ravnica. (Magic Novels... curse them.)
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Yeah...I agree, Leon. I was HOPING people would be open...the policy here is: We won't kick you just for telling us we're doing something wrong! Also, if a staff member persecutes you, just because he/she is staff, report it, and it can be dealt with. This includes me, as the head admin.
Leon 55 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Including you.. does this mean we can perform a bloody coup de etat?
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Haha, sure, I suppose so...problem is, only I can change my access, being root admin...so XP but...yes, it does mean that you can get after me if I do something to harm RMXP Unlimited, as you did earlier with the MiDas thing. Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Sure, I'm one of those people that told Leon. And if you ask why, it's kind of hard to give our opinion when somebody is going arguing about it with us. So, I spoke to another staff member about it, one capable of empathy.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Aye, as such, we are now incorporating a policy that Leon, me, and Saibot have agreed upon. It is as follows: If ANY member (staff, admin, regular, doesn't matter!) agrivates you with something, hit the "report post" button. In truth, some of this could have been avoided by you guys reporting problems...None of us is immune to warns, demotes, etc. (save me...but only because I'm root admin...and then I'm only stopped from being demoted by anyway...). So, please, let us know if anyone is bugging you. If a member flames or picks a fight, it is a reportable offense, and it WILL be dealt with harshly, no matter their position. Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 To be honest I did say that I was working on getting it so members could have them as well in another topic (now deleted by someone).
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted July 7, 2007 Yeah, I do remember seeing something of a similar sort...but I haven't tocuhed your posts, so...
