Story:

Mythology: (Unfinished, needs to be edited)

Before the world was born, six gods traveled around the cosmos and admired the work done the the older, more powerful gods. one of these gods, Tali, had an idea. While none of the gods could create their own, what if they combined all their powers and created a world that they could govern together. The rest of the group agreed enthusiastically, and the six gods started to work on a new world.

The first god, Tali, used almost all his power to force particles of dust and rock to gravitate together to create a barren, rocky wasteland. Dwimli, the second god, started the fire inside the core of the planet. Allowing the planet to heat up from below. Runi, the third god, placed water on the planet, created winter, and gave the planet Polar Ice Caps. Ratoph, the fourth god, shaped the earth, created vast sources of minerals, and mammoth cave complexes that would daze a person for hours from sheer beauty. Fiorin, the fifth god, changed the air into a breathable environment from its acidic, poisoned air. Finally Drunin, created animals and plants to inhabit the many habitats of this new world. Their task done, the six gods sat back and examined their work.

However, the world seemed amiss from other worlds they had seen. They debated about the other worlds and what they had seen for centuries. Finally, Fiorin suddenly jumped up and was so excited that it took the others a moment to calm him down. Fiorin explained that while they had never been bored because there were six of them, the other gods had created their worlds by themselves and probably felt alone. The other worlds had creatures that could interact with the worlds god. However, since their were six of them he suggested that they create six races of life that could interact with their creator.

Tali, examined his remaining power and declined the offer. Instead he offered to create a Pool of Souls for the races to use. The other gods agreed. Dwimli, created his race in the middle of the plant's only landmass. Runi, based his land on the Eastern Coastal region. Ratoph, went into the massive caverns in the north. Fiorin, Took to the floating Islands and Mountains of the South. Druinin settled the the Mountainous forests of the West. The seeds that the gods planted grew into the five races that inhabit Inglasious todaday.

Back Story: (Finished, needs to be edited I apologize if its long.)

One of Fiorin's most absolute worshipers, Klaus, believed that the people too had their own divine powers. He proposed that what they had control over, was when a person was returned to the pool of souls, or Death. At first, people regarded him as fanatical, or even slightly insane. However, as Klaus studied death more and more, he became more and more powerful. And where power lies, people are drawn.

Soon Klaus had enough of a following to challenge for the Florn throne, and challenge he did. The Queen at the time, Gemini, decided to meet him in a show of skill, a duel, for all of Inglasious to see. The challenge was to disarm the opponent. A difficult task, much harder than a duel to the death, as death could easily result from an accident. However, Klaus wanted to make a statement, and make one he did.

Before the battle, Klaus started a chant as he walked away from his opponent, "Ickthum Idry, Kline Vouscht," "For now, you rest," When the two combatants turned to face each other, Klaus raced forward and locked blades, keeping the queen on the defensive as he continued to chant. Both Klaus and Gemini were skilled fighters, and the battle went of for several tense minutes, blades flashing and clashing against each other. The onlookers felt more and more tension as Klaus continued to chant, gathering power from the words. Finally, when Gemini had started to get an edge on Klaus, Klaus released the spell he had been gathering. Gemini, froze, almost literally as her skin turned a pale white, and onlookers would go home swearing they saw Gemini's soul rising out of his body. Klaus had now become the King on the Florn throne.

Klaus, with a new army at his command, wanted to bring all of Inglasious under his control. He stated that he would freely accept those who wanted to join of free will. Those who resisted, would perish. In the declaration of war he sent to the other 4 Kingdoms, his challenge was directed not at the other kings, but at the gods themselves. He stated that wanted to free the people from the gods grasp, and give them the power to control their own destiny. The other four Kingdoms, Druidia, Galouth, Teirim, and Pire, firmly believe in the gods power, and marched out to meet Klaus head-on in combat.

The gods, watched Klaus' growing army with increasing concern and decided to take a hand in the mortal's lives. Something they had never done ever since planting the seeds of life. They created great champions, Avatars, as an embodiment of their will and their voice on the battlefield. Even with the added power of the Avatars however, the combined strength of the kingdoms could not stop Klaus, only slow him down. Fiorin, mourning the loss of one of his most beloved followers, void to put a stop to it, even if it meant destroying the seeds of life he had created. He went to Tali for assistance, and came up with a daring plan that required the finesse that only a god could posses. It would require Fiorin to give up his immortality long enough to accomplish this task.

In the final days of the war, when the Kingdoms were about to give up hope. The Kings all had a vision from their prospective Gods, that the only hope left was to meet Klaus in battle one last time. Dutifully, the kings rallied their troops, and marched for Klaus.

The battle lasted days, with the Kingdoms slowly loosing more and more to Klaus' army. In the middle of the final day, a strong wind hurled itself through Klaus' army, throwing men and siege weapons aside as it headed straight for Klaus. The wind threw Klaus back, and began to condense into a figure. Fiorin himself had stepped onto the battlefield.

Fiorin and Klaus fought bitterly, exchanging blows and spells with such speed and vehemence that holes and craters were left where they landed. Finally, when it seemed like the battle would turn in Fiorin's favor, Klaus unleased a spell that stuck Fiorin, knocking him to the ground. Klaus, gloating over his victory, stood over Fiorin, sword raised. Fiorin, knowing that time was short, took the last option open to him. Fiorin began to chant, and began to glow. Klaus, felt unable to move, and had been frozen with his blade just above Fiorin's chest. Fiorin continued to chant, collecting more and more power with every word spoken. Finally, when Fiorin released the spell, a bright light encased both Klaus and Fiorin, When the light was gone, both Fiorin and Klaus were nowhere to be seen.

The Florns, The seed of life that Fiorin had planted, began to scream and hold their heads, turning to ash even as they walked. Almost all of Klaus' army had fallen where it stood. While the gods had won, it had come at a heavy cost. The Death of Fiorin left a mighty mark on all hearts.

The story will focus mostly on the Druidian's, a special Druidian in particular that is charged with a comming of age task that grows into a monstous quest. Klaus is returning, and with no one to stop him like before, the world may be doomed.

She a Dwuin, or "Temple Keeper", and her family has kept watch over the local temple for many, many years, she is at odds with her father though, who wishes for her to continue his work for the temple. He spent his early childhood on the eastern edges of Druidia where bandits roamed freely. His parents were killed during a raid when he was only eight. Forced to run for his life, he's been living in the wilderness ever since. He may seem uncivilized and uncaring but he has a kind heart and truly wishes to do the correct thing. He likes his fights nice and up close with no politics or authority pulling the strings from the dark.

Distribution and Pesticides Wanted:

To this effect I have two things to say.

  1. I will be release all POSSIBLE source code I can (non-withstanding copy-righted Enterbain engine code)
  2. I will be releasing as often as I can, time permitting.

I also would like to put out an offer here. If you find a bug, you are more than welcome to either email me at rinotfox@gmail.com, send me a personal message through the forums built-in messaging system, or send me a message via the source forge page with the bug. If you feel up to it, send in a possible bug fix. Take into advisement that I reserve the right to deny any bug fixes possible.

I'll distribute the game 3 ways (traffic permitting).

  1. Here on rmu/gdu-unlimited.net (link here)
  2. The studios dropbox account (link here)
  3. The projects source forge/code storage page of my choice. (link here)

Also, I will be running two "releases". The "experimental" branch, which has the latest work I have submitted to be reviewed for bugs, and the "release" branch, which will integrate the the parts of the experimental release that are bug free and stable.

Helping out:

If you have an idea that you believe should in the game, such as a story idea, a mini-game, or a bugfix, feel free to contact me at any of the ways listed in the Distribution section with at least a concept of the idea, and how you would like to be credited.

Heck yes. Definitely like the story, I love the borrowed elements of human lore for the creation of the planet and such, very good mix and well thought out. Your names and places and event timeline are all actually pretty top notch. As you said it's 'unfinished' but I would be remiss if I didn't mention it was in need of heavy comprehension and grammar editing. But the content was very captivating. I was weary reading the multi gods at first, but when I started to read about them creating the planet, I started to get into it. The war background stuff with Klaus felt very 'Legendary Adventure's of Hercules, starring Kevin Sorbo' to me, in a very good way. I love that kind of mythic stuff, and I think you captured the story telling aspects of it very well in your background story.

I am interested in seeing how the overall story plays out and how you do with your character dialogues. I definitely like what you have so far, keep it up, excellent foundation.

Grammer... I suck at it apparently (read my path of eden post if you don't believe me) and copied from human lore?? O.o *thinks about it for a second* I guess it kinda is borrowed, though the inspiration came from Knights Online TBH O.O and thank you for the Mythic Hercules comment, since I was shooting for that, it's good to hear I achieved what I set out to do with it. I already have TONS of ideas of how to tie in the Avatar storyline. smile.png *Ahem* Now, to go deal with my pesky grammer and comprehension tongue.png

UPDATE: Adding another character and bios to Characters, will post picture ASAP.

What? Oh! No, I've only played Tales of Vesperia, and TBH I didn't enjoy it all that much :/ soooo, moot point in making a fan spin-off of it.

I think a friend told me Vesperia was one of the weaker ones.

Abyss and Symphonia were good.

Graces was pretty decent as well.

They say Xilia is supposed to be pretty awesome.

Just the name and the title screen look similar.

Anyways. I may DL and play your game. Should I, BE afraid!

I will be and overly critical asshole.. For your benefit of course.

Bring it! xD

I am always open to criticism, so long as it's logical, and not so short that I'm left going "wha-?". It's sometimes the only way to improve, and I will be expecting lots of criticism. No game is perfect, and a lot of games are not even "good". Most games don't even have a decent story tied into them. That won't stop me from trying my best to deliver a game that "I" could play and enjoy with great story, and mechanics. (I'm a sucker for them...) So harsh criticism, I say I welcome them >smile.png

Edit: Also, if you were to download it, I would no idea what to say. You opinion would be highly valued as a senior member Ark.
