'Co-Op' What Kind of Co-Op?!? - How to be informed about Co-Op games

Recommended Posts

Have you ever bought a game, likely a sequel, thinking it was say multiplayer in the same household with one system, one game, and two controllers, only to find out it was online only? Maybe you bought a game thinking it was online with 100's of people to find out it had 4 in a room at one time. Or even bought an online multiplayer game thinking you would play campaign mode together only to find out it was pure versus.

The solution to this is simple, research the game before you buy it. However that is much easier said then done in allot of cases. When trying to find out exactly what kind of multiplayer content a game has, one can end up searching forums for hours, wiki pages, game faqs guides, etc etc, just trying to find out exactly how much bang for their multiplayer buck they are going to get.

This is the method I used to use a while back until I was told of an amazing site called Co-Optimus.com

What this site has done and continues to do, is list all game that have some/any kind of co-op element of game play and sort them by sub categories based on things like 'couch co-op' or 'co-op campaign', or 'split screen', or 'drop-in/drop-out', etc. These can be the important make or break aspects of co-op games for some and are for many such as myself.

So if you love co-op games as much as I do take a look at this direct link to their games section, and once you have selected your system (also has the classics too), then you can sub categorize it on the right hand side using check boxes.

I hope this helps people find the Co-Op games they want to play as quickly and easily as it helps me to do so.

Journey has co-op. campaign co-op. but it's very basic, no voice chat or gametag.(when you finish the game you see the gametag)
