Pyramid_Head 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) I've decided to make my own RMXP character set template for a small project I'm woring on to break in the RPG Maker XP. It's not the best, I'll admit, the ears and eyes are abit off. Any tips on how to make the eyes and ears better would be greatly appreciated :) Edited June 26, 2012 by Pyramid_Head
Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 I tried to grab that one and edit it, but the quality was too bad. If you post the original for download, I can try and go over it and edit it to look 'better' and then tell you what I did. I am not a good spriter but a pretty good editor, and I think I could change that. But for the sake of it this is what I think I would try first. Move the eyes up 1 pixel, add a mouth (1-4 pixels long/wide, 1 pixel tall) and maybe a 1-2 pixel nose (likely not noses rarely look good in my opinion). The ears as decent but the shape of the head is making them appear to droop. I would suggest maybe try rounding the head a bit, it seems a touch too oval maybe to 'fix' the eyes and ears. But with all that said, the sprite itself rocks, and as a stand alone is a great monk, or like beach dude or something. But you're right as a template it needs work to be more versatile I believe. Either post the download so I can give it a go and tell you what I think, or try the things I mentioned, in either case what you have is an amazing start in my opinion, especially since it's from scratch. Pyramid_Head 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) I'll send you the original directly, I made the quality rubbish on purpose so that no one'd steal it and claim it as their own XD thanks a bunch for your advice and criticism though. deathmoverz24 2 Report post Posted June 27, 2012 just try to experiment a little more on the eyes and ears and if you think its good enough then finish it. i dont like making templates coz it takes more time for a game to finish. Variety on sizes of character makes some life for the game itself.
