Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted June 29, 2012 Hey wouldn't it be great if someone actually made a documentary on independent video game making and focused on those that have succeed and are now known game names. Many of us might not even know some of our favorite games or recent popular releases were in fact of independent origin and innovative design. Well, look no further the movie came out on June 12th, it costs 9.99 for a permanent user license to watch it. When my ol' lady get's home I will be watching it with her. I will post back here with what I think. The trailer made me want to watch it, being a fan and following those games since conception and during their different troubles. Check it out. http://buy.indiegamethemovie.com/
Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted June 30, 2012 Finished watching this. Excellent movie. So much passion and heart put into these games, much like some of the commercial titles too. But hearing 1 or 2 guys talk about 4 years of their life and to see the work they came out with(Fez, Meat Boy, Braid) and know that I love those games, is just awesome. I knew about what they went through and everything but to hear it from them and see it happen was a whole different story. Guys like these are pioneers in their field pushing forward no matter what at whatever cost, and they have all been rewarded for it. If you want to actually make video games and become an independent developer like myself, watch this video for some heart felt inspiration.
Marked 197 Report post Posted July 1, 2012 Oh THIS movie, I saw this the other day on a site. Do recommend it for someone who wants to help people make video games, but doesn't really have an interest in making them? (I would probably have continued to make games if I had the time..) Do recommend it for someone who wants to help people make video games, but doesn't really have an interest in making them? (I would probably have continued to make games if I had the time..) I'd say you would appreciate it definitely because of your background. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of media and arts entertainment of any medium. It was an excellent show of passion and work, and how it takes a little bit of crazy too. It was inspiring on any level in my opinion. Four very different developers mainly showcased and I could relate with all of them and they all said similar things. I am sure anyone who has struggled with anything can relate to their efforts. I'm glad they all succeded and they all do it for the 'right' reasons, it gave me hope, and I would be happy if it gave other indie developers, or anyone else trying to do their own thing that same hope and inspiration.
