Ecowolfsteen 14 Report post Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) Hey everyone, I've been using the Source SDK for about a week and really love it. I've decided to share some screens I capture along my way using this magnificent engine. This one is a red eery light enshrouding a prison cell and a dead guard(which I killed) Then the inside: That's all for now really. I'll update this topic regularly. Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted July 4, 2012 Very cool man. Keep fiddling around, you can make some awesome stuff with that. Zombie Master, one of my favorite indie games, was made using a half life 2 mod, which runs on the source SDK. Zombie Master Official Site Zombie Master Steam Site Someone actually made the entire first movie of Resident Evil as a level in that game, super fun as both the player and the zombie master. You could likely make levels for this, not sure if people still play, but considering it's the only game I know if where one player can send hordes of zombies at a bunch of first person shooter players, there has to be still a following. Keep up the great work. If you have lot's of fun with that you may want to take a look into the unreal engine too, more hands on, but one of the best engines on the planet. -Cheers! Ecowolfsteen 14 Report post Posted July 4, 2012 I actually switched from Unreal to Source. Weird, I know. I actually had an idea of doing a story with another character that has the suit. Because there were 3 suits, 2 empty spots in the first HL

I recently was told about this engine, I plan to look into it more, but preliminary research seems very promising. http://unity3d.com/unity/
Ecowolfsteen 14 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Switched from that too. I prefer Source overall for some odd reason.
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 That looks amazing! I've never seen an engine do that before, well, I mean I have, but I meant I haven't seen anyone use something like that on RMing coommunties. What is it? Source SDK? Also, is this just a tester you are doing, or is it a game we can see? :
Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Switched from that too. I prefer Source overall for some odd reason. Good to know. May I ask for any particular reason? I am always researching 3D engines, and of them the ones we talk about, so I would value your opinions and feedback on them.

Thanks for the feedback :3 And Jon: Source SDK, in my opinion, is the easiest to use 3D engine out there. Hammer World Editor is so simple and feature rich. I like the Source SDKS graphics cabibilities. It's no Battlefield 3 but I think it stands up to the times at its maximum capabilities. It supports HDR and many other things. I've used many, many engines, and searched for hours on end for the perfect engine to suit me. Source SDK is the one. It just stuck with me. There is also a very large community available for resources and tutorials. I love it. 1 CrimsonInferno reacted to this
Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted July 6, 2012 Well, based on that recommendation I am going to look into it first. Thanks, I appreciate your advice and input. On a related/unrelated note, is this the engine you are looking to for your first design, or just laying ground work for the future?
Ecowolfsteen 14 Report post Posted July 7, 2012 Kind of both. Since it's the first engine I've really stuck with it's kind of ground work for future but I also plan on developing some projects with Source, maybe even with Soft Blue.
