vincestick 13 Report post Posted July 9, 2012 Hello, earlier (well, way earlier) I had a topic that showed a drapery drawing in progress. Well, here is the finished piece! Also, I did a portrait of Vincent Price. They were both for school and they took a long time. Both were done entirely with charcoal. Here they are! The drapery: Vincent Price portrait: 4 Ecowolfsteen, Jon Bon, Heretic86 and 1 other reacted to this
Ecowolfsteen 14 Report post Posted July 9, 2012 Wow! It looks like I can touch both of those! Great work! :D
Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted July 9, 2012 Hello, earlier (well, way earlier) I had a topic that showed a drapery drawing in progress. Well, here is the finished piece! Also, I did a portrait of Vincent Price. They were both for school and they took a long time. Both were done entirely with charcoal. Here they are! I definitely remember the drapery, still think about it from time to time. Wow, I was just talking about Vincent Price on here yesterday, that's amazing you did that portrait, few even know who he is now a days. I love that you chose him and it turned out amazing too. Great work, keep it up, +1 rep! -Cheers

Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted July 10, 2012 Its people like you who are the reason I never got into art. It's just not possible to be that good Really amazing stuff. Heh. My buddy showed me a guy playing guitar and was like that guy makes me want to stop playing right now. I told him, well you know what you can't be the best you can only be your best. You're right though I will likely never be able to render art that well on probably using any medium, but I'll now likely draw forever non the less. Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder, but don't worry I have a fiery sword+1.
deathmoverz24 2 Report post Posted July 10, 2012 WOW Amazing work that is. I never think about drawing in charcoal but that work looks like made by a mature man and youre so young. I remember when I watch something in tv. A georgious reporter interviewing an old man live in a far about his charcoal arts. after a week he made a portrait of her and that reporter cant really say anything. Sometimes I think hes lucky. Keep up the good work man!
vincestick 13 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 lol "The Derpy" I'll be honest It's not the first time someone mistook it as me pinning a cloth to a canvas..lol. Really, though, when I started these I really wasn't sure how they'd turn out because I've never touched charcoal as a drawing medium before taking that class :| but I have been drawing with a pencil for a long time so I guess that helps :P Or maybe I'm pretty good with my hands (LADIES...;)). Thanks a lot, guys!
Jon Bon 43 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 What made you decide to draw Vincent Price?
vincestick 13 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 What made you decide to draw Vincent Price? Hmm, well, before we began the assignment we had to bring a high-quality black and white photo of an actor/actress. I decided to do an actor from the older generations because, well, black and white photos of them are easier to find. While brainstorming Vincent Price was one of the listed choices because I remembered him from House of Haunted Hill, Edward Scissorhands and as the narrator for Thriller. I chose him because I think he's cool, that's all.
totalsticks 1 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 Wow, those look great! [fake-troll] Too bad it's obvious they aren't really done with charcoal. They look too good. [/fake-troll] Seriously though, I had to do a double take on the drapery.

FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 13, 2012 The second drawing is perfect. Do you have plans to go to art school or do professional work? You are one talented man!
vincestick 13 Report post Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) Thanks! Crimson, I used to have a DA many moons ago...but I don't now lol but I might in the future. I think I didn't like how categories were managed in DA. At the moment I am working on a Tumblr for my art and stuff. The link is in my sig. There's little to nothing on it at this time, though. Franklin, On the contrary I am currently attending Academy of Art University. In fact, if it wasn't for the classes I took earlier this year (my first year) I wouldn't of made anything like these because before the class I never touched charcoal before as a medium. If you remember my earlier thread I had some 'portraits' I did from a while back but they don't look nearly as good as the one here because I was inexperienced lol. Plus realism isn't exactly my strong suit lol. Edited July 18, 2012 by UrHappyPlz
