So I noticed there haven't been any contests for a while. So what do you as members here think would make a good contest?

Well I am thinking of my own personal contest for the site.

• A Treasure Hunt Theme Game
  
• A Christmas or New Year Theme Game
  
• A Gdu Inspired Small Community Game
  
• A project inspired by a kids game or Nursery Rhyme
  
• A contest with a set project title to see who can come up with the best idea for it.
  
• A retro game contest (Project must be based off an 8 or 16 bit game)
  
• ReMix my game Contest (take a game made by X and remix it and make it better)
  

I was thinking about running my contest around Dec to the end of the year. Maybe earlier or later. i dunno.

Well if I were you I wouldn't make the theme too complicated, but Retro Remix with a Set Title does sound a bit fun. I love using retro graphics and game play, they may not too as nice as some other stuff but they were very effective doing what they needed to do.

I don't like the Remix at all sorry, I just don't feel happy remixing another persons game but I LOVE the Retro part, I have some nice ideas coming already. So a Retro contest with Set Title would be my personal choice.

Retro Remix Contest with a set project title? This would translate "a classic game redone with a set project title" is what I mean

 

for example only

• Maniac Mansion 2 based upon Maniac Mansion for NES
  
• Add a sub-title like "Return of the Blob" or "The Chainsaw is in the Fridge" describing your game
  
• Keep the areas of the house and party members the same
  
• Story, actual events, and graphics style is open for re-doing
  
• must have at least 20 mins of play
  
• Must include Tentacle, evil doctor, and nurse edna in the game also.
  
• Game play must feel similar to the original and provide a sense of Nostalgia.
  
• All Credits must be given.
  

Remember This was just an example I thought up really quick.

lol I loved Maniac Mansion :D but my favorite was Day of the Tenticle.

 

Yeah, that sounds like a fun contest. Maybe we could come up with a few ideas for the theme and vote on the best one?

• Super Metroid - Platformer
  
• Castlevania - Platformer
  

 

 

I would have added Final Fantasy games, but then again they are over done as far as fan games go.

 

My vote would be a Lufia 2 contest :D I love that game

Yes NONE of these are RPGs but I was thinking that would make it all the better to see ppl make them into one.

and I was thinking of adding Mega Man to the list but I don't know if the one Mega-man project is still going on. and for some reason I wanted to also add Excitebike. How would you make an ExciteBike RPG?

I didn't add Crono Trigger for the same reason I didn't add Final Fantasy. Over used for fan games.

 

But I like the idea of a Boy and his Blob as a RPG, I think that could work really well, it certainly would be different.

 

And I have no idea how you could do Excite Bike as an RPG...

Excitebike RPG that would be one heck of a challenge there.

 

But you had nothing to say about a Duck Hunt RPG? Shoot the dog!!
