Auto-tile System

Question

How does the auto-tile system work in RMXP? Can the auto-tiles be any size or are they restricted to 32x32? I know they can have unlimited animations as long as they're kept within 96x128 (L x W) but I've been experimenting with larger dimensions keeping within correct aspect but have no luck.

By keeping within correct aspect I mean that the auto tile is 96x128, I then double it to 192x256, this is what I mean by keeping aspect.

I think I'm getting something really wrong as I swear, a looong time back I managed to pull off unlimted animations + unlimted sized auto-tiles as long as it kept within the correct aspect.

Thanks for reading!

Restricted to 32x32.

Nope, you have to make 96x128 blocks, lined up horizontally. For example for 2 frames you should have a 192x128 picture. Just look at the RTP's autotiles and see for yourself.

I think this will clear things up, if you take the time to read it.

This will be especially useful if you are looking to create Animated Autotiles like Water.

Thanks for the help :) But I already know how they exactly work now.

SO does that mean this topic is answered?

Yes. I just realised my post didn't actually post to Moonpearls reply, sorry about that. Either it was a bug and didn't post or I closed the page without realising I didn't click post.
