Lorisor 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 Well, what I need really is a map designer.....see Im still figuring which system Im going to use, RMXP is too much hassle cause I don't know scripting, not much, and the battle system scripts I would want to use come with unforgiving directions that usually don't work how it's explained, trust me I've done about 5 CBS's and none of them work 100% correctly as explained and the work arounds I try just make it harder to use...so I mean, I'd do either really, but I'd much rather work with 2k3 the resources are much better and it's less hassle for the battle system, although the limitations tick me off, I don't have photoshop that saves, so I can't save a TRUE 256 color picture for the use of 2k3 which annoys me to no end.... :D
Marked 197 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 You have quite a problem there...I'd say go with rmxp. Its the only one I know. What do you mean 2k3's resources are better? Not the last time I checked, the rmxp ones are much better quality, or is that not what you were talking about? One thing I consider myself good at is never giving up. I dont see any other option, you dont get better by giving up. My point is, well you havent found a good CBS, yet. There will be one out there, it takes a bit of patience, and sometimes you have to go with what you've got. Have tried Mr. Mo's CBS? In our scripts Archive. Why doesnt your photoshop save? You need to get that fixed. Go on the some photoshop forums, or send them an email at their website. Just get it fixed. Can you re-install it? You could download a trial if there is one maybe...although that would be your last option. Just get what you have fixed. No one has ever done anything truly great with out a little hard work, so really put a lot of effort into your game. It will be the Mona lisa of games in no time :D So what are you going to do? Lorisor 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 Not quality, but variety of chipsets, like futuristic city chipsets, I have several for 2k3 but for RMXP all I have is a world map tileset and a city tileset that isn't properly aligned, alright, even so, if I COULD get it aligned or proper tilesets for RMXP the issue with a CBS is something that is left to be desired, a ABS isn't what Im looking for it's either a FF battle system I can use my battle character set with, which there are very few that are user friendly, Im not a noob by a long shot but when you try to oversimplify you tend to make things that much more complicated then they need to be....RMXP isn't bad at all, in fact I actually started a pretty nice project on it, and put it on hold simply because I wanted to at least get a Demo of NeverSight up and running, too many projects so I stopped them all so I wouldn't get out of hand, I also was looking for the "Zelda Engine" that makes 2D LoZ Ocarina Of Time type zelda games, cause I had plans on making a zelda game, actually had a good story which in turn just as "Princess Peach" became the hero I was going to make Zelda the hero...anywho...I dunno, I just need solid ground before I take off walking into a run... Marked 197 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 hmmm, well first of all, do you want to continue making Neversight, or do you want to start a whole new project?
Lorisor 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 to tell the truth, both actually, but in reality, NeverSight is a huge project, so to at least have a base is what I need, Chipsets and such, so when I sit down and start it nothing will be holding me back, as of now I don't have any of those things, as for photoshop, I never had the full version in the first place, and what I mean by huge project is that, I have already decided that NeverSight is too big of a Idea to be smashed into one game, I figured it to be a "Trilogy" when I first thought of it, the first game tells the begining, basically the 1st episode....a WHOLE BASIC RUNDOWN OF NEVERSIGHT IS, that boy gets accidently kidnapped (Yes I actually thought of a way) and winds up on a ENTIRELY different planet not even in the SAME SYSTEM as his home planet, growing up with a foster MOTHER with no father at all or blood related family he sets off (yes I give a proper way) and leaves the planet and searches for home, going to other planets and solving problems there aswell as gathering tiny bits of info that actually help more or less, basically the first game will be him setting off and you learning about who this character....so it's not something that'll be finished in a month or so time when I start....guranteed when I start and when I finish it will be a game that people will actually expect the sequal I'll make sure of it, wanted all sorts of things in it....I just don't see it happening with these shortcommings...and me by myself? thats a guranteed failed project without the things I need... Marked 197 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 If you use 2k3, I wont be able to really help you, and you wont really be able to be active at these forums. And thats bad. It sounds to me like you are going in to a gigantic project, without doing any smaller ones right? It sounds like to me that you are perhaps going to big. Saying that it will fail if you go at it alone. Perhaps you should start smaller...what are your thoughts on that?
Lorisor 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 I have no problems starting small, I just want to have things a little pre mapped is all, I never had FULL intentions on going Gung Ho with the entire project, I wouldn't mind having that "Zelda Engine" because I wanted to do a Zelda game, I think it's a entire script system for XP, or the ACTUAL LoZ OoT engine that works like the Ocarina Of Time but is 2D I've seen it but now I don't know where... Marked 197 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 You should make a request for it, i've never had it myself, just heard of it. Im sure someone will know here...I think SCMike will know. He posted a script from it once. Im not saying stop on your other project...its a tough one. I would go with the Zelda Engine myself, then move on to the big project. But thats me. Lorisor 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2007 sounds like a plan to me, I'll just have to look up on that Zelda engine or something, it'll be something to grow on, and it'd be nice to get a project started that I know I can progress with further than 1 main event.....thanks for all the help ya know...
