rgangsta 43 Report post Posted November 7, 2012 That video doesn't explain why they have to kill the custom backgrounds. Stupid. I love my background. Had it for about a year now. We should start a petition. Maybe a Google boycott.
Marked 197 Report post Posted November 7, 2012 That video doesn't explain why they have to kill the custom backgrounds. Stupid. I love my background. Had it for about a year now. We should start a petition. Maybe a Google boycott. Well it did if google backgrounds count (I'm not sure if its a "product"). If they do fall under the video, its because google backgrounds have proved too unpopular and so a waste of resources to keep/develop them (although, I can't see too much development/maintenance with them to be honest) and they have moved people onto different projects. Is it really that big of a deal? :P I can't exactly boycott google myself... google analytics/web master tools/ad sense/gmail, an Andriod phone... bad spelling, etc.
rgangsta 43 Report post Posted November 7, 2012 lol You use a lot of Google products. But it's as you said, there were no visible changes or updates done to the feature. Why remove it? I think it was very unnecessary. It's a feature that takes care of itself. I really enjoyed opening Chrome and being greeted by THIS. I guess it' no more. Oh, by the way, if you guys haven't heard...OBAMA'S BEEN RE-ELECTED! WOOOOOOOOOOO!

madanchi 18 Report post Posted November 7, 2012 I don't like Google, they messed Youtube up completely ever since they bought it and started to edit an already great system. Now we have bad design, limitations, subs not working, views not propperly counting, more big only brands trending...
Bob423 52 Report post Posted November 8, 2012 google is becoming more and more retarded... they're always tracking what you search. it's weird.
Marked 197 Report post Posted November 8, 2012 Why is no one paying attention to the video >.> They may have a legit reason. And this seems kinda trivial to me (no offense), I'll miss my iGoogle... google is becoming more and more retarded... they're always tracking what you search. it's weird. They do seem to information-taking happy, but which organization isn't? At least we know about it too. They seem more honest than say, facebook. I much prefer them to apple, and at least google does a ton to promote innovation and efficiency. Their services to web masters, google entrepreneurs, etc. They may be building a scaring monopoly, but at least my perception is that they're not just an organization to suck the profit out of people, like apple. Google has my support right now. I don't like Google, they messed Youtube up completely ever since they bought it and started to edit an already great system. Now we have bad design, limitations, subs not working, views not propperly counting, more big only brands trending... Didn't google just buy youtube and merge the account systems? I would think the youtube people would stay working on youtube? Of course google as owners can direct what the company does, but I think in a lot of cases the original owners keep their jobs and keep what they're doing, they're just owned differently, like a shareholder without voting rights (for example). dolarmak 23 Report post Posted November 8, 2012 Meh, this whole thing is kinda redundant. Its just a background image and that could easily be solved by a quick diy page like Marked said. As for Youtube, they did do a few changes, mostly to the algorethem that shows random videos on the front page. Over all they didn't do a lot. And for the videos that were taken down, it usually because of copyright laws and them not wanting to be sued by big companies over what Joe Blow uploads to his account. People don't realize all the bullshit that can happen when users don't follow the User Agreement, and since you agreed to it, they have every right to take down the stuff they find offensive or illegal. Over all I think Google is a better company than most like Marked explained. Yeah they're tracking us, but then again every one is, atleast they're honest about it. And yes they might be taking out products you like, but every company has the same process about their products. Too few user/buyer equals closing. The only difference is that right now you are affected by it, where as when Singer Sewing Co. decided that they were getting rid of one of their models, you didn't care cause you're a computer geek and not a seamstrice. lol
