Marked 197 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 Check out the new IE 10 ad. It's quite interesting :) I like how they acknowledge the past and peoples views on the previous versions.
tatsu011 3 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 I understand the fact that Microsoft for the longest time ruined and obliterated their reputation with IE6, and IE 7. Every version after that has been fix after fix after fix. Listening to the demands of those who left IE. Microsoft wants to make their browser compeditive again. I'd say that IE6 needs to be tossed into the recycle bin. Judging by this commercial Microsoft listened to the complaints to pretty much make their browser suck less. Thallion 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 I actually use IE, but the only reason why is that the computers at my school only have IE, and all the programs reset every time you log on.

You've a product that has a hugely negative reputation. Imagine if they did the usual talk up why its so good. I think its clever. Still not gona try it lol These days when I make websites for clients, if its accessed with IE6 you will get a screen telling you to upgrade to a modern browser, including a newer version of IE. It still has a link to bypass the screen, but essentially we just dont optimize for IE6 anymore, its a waste of time. It's not only difficult but hardly anyone uses it. People are rapidly becoming more internet savvy which is great for me (although hopefully I wont be design websites for too much longer :P)

I think it's a good idea to get rid of it and have another browser. Personally I think the ad was funny. I've been that guy, ranting about how much IE sucks, so I related to him :P
Marked 197 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 Accordingly to my Google Analytics tracking there have been 0.03% of visits using IE6 in the last month, so it wouldnt make sense for me to do anything for IE6. And of some of our most popular clients I didn't even see any IE6 users :) It really depends on your target audience. If you're going to get a lot of older people visiting then it makes sense to optimize for IE6. I'm really struggling to find anything significant through the accounts my company is tracking. Polraudio 122 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 I dont mind IE much. IE9 was nice and fast. The only reason i dont use IE is because it doesnt have awesome plugins like Firefox and Chrome have.
rgangsta 43 Report post Posted November 30, 2012 Opera and Chrome. All day. Every day. Just love Opera Unite and Google Sync. My bookmarks are saved even when I'm away from home. Wonder if IE10 will have something similar.
