RMXP Unlimited MMORPG

Alright, we tried this idea before but...well, it didn't work out. BUT, we're gonna see whether the RMXP Unlimited community would like to bring it backk up into mind and making the site more enjoyable for everyone.

 

There is a poll above which will be a very good help and hinder to see who will be apart of the project if it gets going. So PLEASE take the poll ASAP so the decision can be made.

 

REMEMBER: This site is not a dictatorship and the community has the right to have a say in things, and the only way we can have a say in THIS matter is by taking the poll and/or replying to the topic.

Since i left, i dont have anything else to do when im on my computer. So i would completely dedicated to this project.

I put down for mapping, eventing, advertising and other. I could also go with organizing. I would really like to design a website for this project if it gets to that stage. While i was away, i even got to make a website for a real business. That was really cool, and i got payed heaps of money for it. They didnt know i was 16 though, they may have payed me less. But thats something im interested in, and training for. I used RMXP for a while, im average with everything really, so you could throw me in anywhere and i would do my best to get the work done. Im in for this one.

wow, the website wold be cool, but it would be good if we could link them in some way to attract people to RMXP Unlimited. I put down organising, animating, testing and advertising. Advertising is quite self explanatory, i like testing games out; Leon thinks i'm good at animating i think :s lol, and i'm a very good organiser so yeah.

 

But 2 people aren't enough for the project so we ought to wait until more people take the poll and reply to the topic.

Yeah, I agree. We need a few more. I still have my old hosting account on trap17, which we could use for organizing and uploading files. Although thats getting a bit far ahead. We need a few more members first.

I'm a ninja He-Man Master of the Universe with writing and eventing, and I'm an insomniac free-lance author, so I've loads of time on my grubby, stubby paws. If this gets back up upon it's geriatric feet, I'd be more than willing to lend a shoulder to the cause, in addition to the all-consuming project I needs must complete.

 

So, yeah, I'd help. I'm ambivalent toward the whole idea, considering how it went last time, but I'm nothing if not excitable. Though I don't think MMO would be quite the way to go. Just me talking. Disregard it as you see fit. Nothing important.

lol, um...you know how you don't want the MMORPG and just a normal game? Well, i was thinking that if we had an online game, it would bring more and more active members into the community, ya know? But then again, people may take your side anyways ~ its not all up to me, its up to the community, so everyone is obliged to their opinion.

Yeah it would be. Perhaps it could start out as a normal RPG Maker XP game, and when/if it gets far enough, we could turn it in to a MMO.

hmm, i guess. Oh, i know. We could start off with just a normal RPG game, right? And when you level up or so forth, there can be a password there. So if the game gets popular, all you need to do is enter that password and all your data is uploaded, and you enter the MMORPG. Is this getting through to anyone? ahaha, i'm not the best at explaining things:)))

Ryan has a point about the password thing, but that was also the downfall of one of the Phantasy Star games. It was offline, but the final boss was online only. I think, if we make a game, we either need to make it a normal game or an MMO. We could make 2, a normal and an MMO, and if the normal is popular enough, advance it to an MMO in the second game, but I wouldn't recommend making a normal connected to an MMO like ryan said.

 

I'm good at eventing and storymaking, though. If we need a world we can use mine, I have no problem with it. Just let me know what you think and all. Really, I think an MMO might be the best way to go, though, as more people might come that way more then just a normal game, but then, the normal game might attract the people we need for an MMO. I'm not really sure how we want to do it.

hmm, well, i think that MMO would be a much more beneficial way to go. 1/ it increases the popularity of the forums. 2/ It involves the community more. 3/ Its something different to most games created.

I rather agree with SCMike... We should start off with a regular RMXP game FIRST. The community as a whole could create resources/storyline/etc for the game and if it becomes popular, make an MMO out of it. Which shouldn't be too hard in converting the resources over to the 2nd project, I don't think... (not counting incompatible scripts *grumbles about those*).

 

If you do get started up though I would be MORE than happy to help. And if you do, about the storyline, we could put up another vote on what type of genre the community wants/wants to build, and we could collectively come up with the hero(s)/villain(s)/other NPCs, and what not. ... and I'm rambling, lol. Sorry. Well anywho, I'm willing to help 500%!!!!!!!! :)

Yeah, we could do a standard RPG, and then do an MMO sequel. That'd probably work pretty well. And I am always available, so just say when and I can start working.

Sounds like we have some dedicated members ready to go. To make an RMXP MMO, im pretty sure you make the normal RMXP game first. Am I wrong? If this goes well, then we could convert it into a MMO. What ever the decision, i think we are going straight into making a MMO.

Now, I'm thinking the best way for a team work is a development forum. You know how I love to make forums :lol: Ryan, I nominate you as team leader for the project. So what do you say? Can I make the development forum? I have a spare trap17 account and it really wants to be used. Im pretty experienced with forums, and it will pretty much be a sub forum of RMXP Unlimited, just on a separate forum. Can I?

Well sure, you can make the development forum if you wish^.^ And if others agree to electing me in the project then i'll do my best. But its the community's decision overall so i wanna know what other people think of the nominations and stuff.

 

And yeah, we'd have to start off by making a normal game before we make it into an MMO so i guess we'll go with creating a normal game first and progressing to an MMO later on.

 

And i agree with LordValinar about the other polls, but i'd only recommend creating a poll for the genre and not characters and stuff. The reason for this is that the writers involved will be able to make the storyline form better if they make the characters themselves. Does everyone understand that or disagree?

Yeah, but that is common with these sort of things. Really we are set up for stress and hard work. But yeah, its exciting.

 

The writers will need a place to brainstorm, since there will be more than one. I will get started on the Development forums. But, before i start i need a domain name i can use. For example: name.trap17.com. What should i put as the name? I need that before i can start the thing.

Well, i think you should wait until we have the poll about the genre and the writers come up with the title. THEN, you could use the title of the game into the domain name. Does that sound logical or do you have any other ideas? (I hate sounding like a dictator:))

Well, sometimes titles are not even decided until half way through a game. So I will make it something like rmxpunlimited_productions/game/forums/ or something like that. I already have a sub-domain but i want to change it for the development forums. Ok, thats sorted.

Welcome to the team! We are getting a few people here. I've started the development forums already. It should be ready by tomorrow(about 24 hours), it is actually pretty hard to change the sub-domain. The leaders will be admins and all other team members will have minor mod abilities, just so its easy to organize everything for the project. Thats what the development forum is for after all. Although, it doesn't have to be used until we are ready to start. But we could brainstorm right away.

As for brainstorming: Where we going to do this? In this topic or the project forums? I've already got a list of ideas, titles, plots, etc ready to be thrown out! lol. Oh... also my #1 talent are cutscenes with Events. If you ever need anything, just lemme know. Anything special requiring pictures or additional sprites, I'll need to make sure I get those resources to use first. Just FYI.

Yeah, I just finished exams and have holidays so I got a bit of time. And my stay here is temporary. Its too bad you cant help, but we have always known you are a busy a guy. Since this is an RMXP Unlimited project, you were expected to be involved :D

 

As for brainstorming: Where we going to do this?

Well, I have a forum called "Brainstorming Room" made, so we can do it there. It will take me a bit of time to get a new sub-domain working, then I will post the link here. Although this is a really quick start... but members seem dedicated so why not jump right in.

 

Ok, it took me a while, but i got the development forums set up. So please register team members. Ryan, I'll make you a root admin, so you will have full control over the forum and how you want to run things. And Mike, if he wants to, because he is the owner of RMXP Unlimited, so he has to have some control over the development forums :lol: Tell me if you are ok with these forums ok mike?
