Bigace360 38 Report post Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) Okay while viewing the site after its launch and that crash we had last month. The errors are really bad and annoying. Anyone new to this site might be driven away by them. Heres a list of errors thats been annoyance on my end. You may probably know most of them already. Also I don't know if this matters but the Browsers I use is IE10 and Google Chrome. Logging me out involuntarly (I try posting only to realize I'm a guest again, that can be extremely annoying.) functions while posting don't seem to work. The screen freezes and then I have to refresh the page. Like when I was trying to press hyperlink and the grew screen appeared but nothing happened. When I try to post, the loading bar will appear but nothing will happen. Now I have to copy what I wrote refresh the page then paste and then post. I wrote something, then tryed to post it, and my posted was gone. I wasn't writting that again. Clicking more reply options for some reason sends you back to the top of the page. Emoticons don't seem to show up when trying to choose one. Lastest Posts doesn't respond as fast as it should. Someone would post something, but it won't show up for awhile in the list. The chat will sometimes not post what I wrote. Is there a reason why I can preview my post before posting it? Is the site loading slow or it that my computer? Here's some screenshots I took as well: Again sorry if they've been address already, I though should post it anyways as it can be annoying while on the site. Marked 197 Report post Posted January 12, 2013 Thanks for taking the time to make this post. The first 2 images that you posted are simply caused by your browsers window size. There is some responsive CSS code that I copied and have yet to collaborate for mobile devices. Mobile should be the only time the site will look like that, because it's only triggered at certain widths. The 3rd screenshot is a recent error and what's happening is that a CSS file got overwritten. I tried to fix this today, but something prevented me from being able to do in the ACP, as I can only do it by logging in to the forums backend. Being logged out is probably on your end. The main suspect for a site when this happens is the www either included or excluded, depending on how the cookies are handled. It could be your own cookies settings, or the forum killing your session. Did you click "remember me"? When I try to post, the loading bar will appear but nothing will happen. Now I have to copy what I wrote refresh the page then paste and then post. I wrote something, then tryed to post it, and my posted was gone. I wasn't writting that again. This is the worst when that happens. The thing is if it randomly doesn't work sometimes, then its not necessarily broken and there's some temporary error. This does happen to me too sometimes, not very often though. If you lose your internet connection, or the site goes down, this won't work. Because when you hit submit you're effectively connecting to the site over again, you just don't see that in your browser. It may be best to disable the ajax posting in your settings, or perhaps I ought to disable it for everyone.. The emo's are broken. If you jump to the top, that's a broken javascript action. I'm not going to be working on the chatroom for a while, its not really worth my time and I'm not skilled enough at the language. The preview post is gone, that's broken and I couldn't figure out why. Certainly got a few things to work on :P 1 tatsu011 reacted to this
ShinkuAura 15 Report post Posted January 12, 2013 Mark...Ace is right. I just happened to lose a post now thinking that the post has been posted. Annoys me. The mobile version is crap. Sorry but mobile version is slow as the pc, it freezes a lot and the touch features in GDU are very very unresponsive I tried GDU with 4 or 3 different PCs. Everything that bigace said is true and happens to us all. Mark get GDU together please. Also I suggest you to put a feature where you could see your post after posting something. Well it was possible with RMXPU why not here? Also the mobile content throw it away or modify it also the loading screen does annoy me a lot that I click post 2 times and I get double posts. And the ability to delete posts.
Bigace360 38 Report post Posted January 12, 2013 Thanks for the reply marked, Hopefully you can get these errors cleared up when you get the chance as these errors aren't really good for business. Also it does the same on Google chrome to not just IE10, and the logging out issue happens on all my devices not just my main PC. Which I can agree is garbage. Its your computer bro what the specs Has nothing to do with my computer, as it does the same thing on my kindle, HTC EVO, and my brand new laptop as well, plus Omar510 had issues as well. Also marked just addressed everything anyways.
Marked 197 Report post Posted January 13, 2013 The process to fix a few of these takes a while. It's like starting again with a fresh copy and modifying it to fit into GDU all over again. I have just started work on it. Here's what I'm working with
Bigace360 38 Report post Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) lol is that the raw version of the forum. Edit: Actually the logging out issue seems to be an IE issue as I'm still logged in on Google Chrome. Edited January 13, 2013 by bigace
Marked 197 Report post Posted January 13, 2013 That's the version without the forums CSS being loaded. This is like your default forum output with all original html and css: That's how the theme integration works. I take the forum output and plug it into the GDU layout. Then I remove the html that we don't need and alter the CSS to style it back to the GDU style.
Tomo2000 60 Report post Posted January 13, 2013 Well, I've never really had any problems with posts not posting or the chat malfunctioning. However, I use Mozilla. I really have a burning place of hatred for Chrome, I find it really laggy and unresponsive in comparison to Mozilla and even IE at some times (yep, I went there). The site loads practically instant for me and, yeah, never really had any problems. I've never tried it on the mobile, though, and I don't see very much application for a mobile version unless you're going to be using an iPad or something. Bigace360 38 Report post Posted January 30, 2013 Did you ever figure out why the latest post take several hours to update, instead of instantly. Also when I was trying to preview a post, the site when straight to the forum page.
Marked 197 Report post Posted January 30, 2013 The latest posts are updating immediately for me. Do you see this topic on there now? Yes the preview post is a mystery, I'm not sure why it is not working.
Bigace360 38 Report post Posted January 30, 2013 Just notice that It's an IE problem as Google Chrome has the latest post.
dolarmak 23 Report post Posted January 30, 2013 Yeah IE has a lot of issues with sites these days. I haven't had any trouble with Google Chrome or Firefox.
Bigace360 38 Report post Posted January 31, 2013 This site doesn't like IE does it, as some function that are working on Google Chrome aren't working in IE. Like with the moderation I couldn't move the threads until open GC and the "Forum Management" button just sends you back to the top of the page, but in GC a menu appears when you click. Plus the layout looks better in Google Chrome for some reason.
