Upgrading to IPB 2.3

Hello, so, here's a poll for everyone. As everyone knows, Saibot has gone out and gotten 2.3 for our site. Due to previous complications, though (and by that, I mean all the problems we've had with upgrading between 2.1 to 2.2) I'm not so sure I want to update the forum. After all, I don't want to risk everything getting destroyed again, and then having to fully redo everything. However, as we admins do not make full decisions ourselves, I (as head admin) have decided to halt any upgrading to 2.3 without prior member acceptance. So, here's a poll for all of you. I would like to make mention that I ask both Saibot and Leon (our other 2 admins) not to vote in here. You can post your thoughts, but I prefer this to be a member only vote.

Yesterday I did a bit of practice on upgrading from 2.2 to 2.3. Its not exactly hard... all you have to do is upload the 2.3 files and replace all the files in your forums directory. Then reinstall the software, and use phpmyadmin to drop the new tables, and then you upload the database. When you go the forums they are exactly the same, to complete the upgrade you go into the ACP and there is an option there to do that. Then you have to either remove or reinstall your mods that are not compatible with 2.3. Some are, some arnt.

Like I said it would not be that hard all you are doing is Upgrading IPB 2.1 to 2.3, a simple update. It has nothing to do with changing forum software.

It is still changing software. An update is a change. I suppose its how you look at it. Some modifications do not work with the new version, and i think the coding is a lot different because the new version is a lot faster. Still, the forums will not seem much different.

It's a lot different because its pretty much a new version of ipb so i heard, they should just call it ipb 3.0 but meh. But no its a good idea because it will have a lot of security updates etc...

I would prefer to do it myself...since RMXP Unlimited is mine. So, I ask Noob Saibot to send me the software so that I can upload it myself and update everything. You have ftp access, so just upload it onto our server, and I'll do all of the updating. This way, if it fails, I can convert back to the original and try again without trouble.
