SeedsOfWar 1 Report post Posted May 23, 2013 (edited) Dennis Dunn, Chris Wallace © 2008-2013 GoldMoon Games GoldMoonGames@gmail.com Story Chapter 1 – Prelude The now-powerful Kingdom of Runevale was once a scattering of broken townships, stagnant in their own advancement, and powerless against anyone who should attack them. This is a past now long gone, as the kingdom was slowly unified by King Adam the First. Realizing power in numbers, the Benevolent Unifier from the town of Vale used his charisma to lead a once broken land to unification, in a time when the rest of the world was still cast in darkness. The result was over a hundred years of peace and prosperity that led to the Kingdom's gradual ascension to the top of the world when it came to trade and military might. However, the Unifier's own charisma and power led to his own downfall. Runevale's increasing power only made it that much more valuable, and King Adam I's reign was soon to end. A siege on Runevale took place, enacted by the neighboring country, Naidu, that left the beautiful city of Runevale broken and all but destroyed as the country slowly began to collapse. Through the dust emerged the Elite Guard, originally formed of loyalist farmers and artisans, most of whom had never even touched a sword. These original fighters, through blood and dirt managed to defend Runevale in an attack that lasted 56 days, costing hundreds of casualties, and showing the might of their battered countrymen. Through the ranks rose a young soldier, originally a blacksmith by the name of Albert. Volunteered by his fellows, he was placed in power for his good deeds, and soon came to rule Runevale, as the country picked up the pieces, still reeling from the recent atrocities. A slow unease would build between Runevale and it's neighbor, Naidu, seat of the Realm of Shadow... This map is nearly 400x400 tiles, and a work in progress. During development of the game, areas will be updated often. Sevna The Sevnan Creation Myth: 000001 Before everything, there was a void. The void was originally a place of utter and complete darkness and cold, and for immeasurable eons it remained exactly as such, unchanging in it's bitter perfection. But it had a will. The Naidese called the will "the Matriarch", for it was out of this will that the path of all things would begin. 000002 The will of the empty void desired balance, and out of neccesity created two omniscient entities to tip the scales toward the favor of balance. 000003 The first shone with radiance, a pure golden hawk whose name meant Light, Carmi. 000004 The second was enveloped in darkness, a wise owl whose form was as dark as pitch, and his name meant Darkness, Ctino, though he emanated warmth. 000005 Carmi and Ctino were made for eachother, and fell in love, though Carmi shared the coldness of the Void and Ctino shared its darkness. For eons, they remained together, and eventually consummated their love. They created a son, who shared both the Light and Warmth, and they named him Solri, which meant Sun. 000006 From this birth, motes of dust came into being, solidified pieces of light that came together to form a soft grit that Solri could hold in his hand. They three rejoiced in the creation of the hard grit, and knew that it was from this dirt that they could create Life. 000007 Carmi, Ctino and Solri all knew that life was precious, and out of their joy and sadness, they cried into Sol's palm. Their tears first dripped and trickled, and soon the trickle became a deepening brook that flowed across the ground. The brooks came together and formed streams. The streams formed rivers and cut valleys into the stone, which then flowed into the palm of Sol's hand where it became an ocean. 000008 Where the tears touched earth, life began to grow. Saplings and plants slowly emerged from the wet dirt, turning into fields and forests that grew rampant. The three saw the completion of Solri's world, in the palm of his hand. They all were happy with the perfection they had created. It was sacred and deserved their protection. 000009 Eons passed, and Sol held the world aloft in his hand as he watched over it. Though, one day when Sol awoke to find his paradise, filled with the glory of so much flora, he felt an emptyness. Sol wished for companionship, another being that he would craft in the images of Carmi and Ctino. 00000A Solri beheld the gentle boughs of a peach tree, in full bloom on the side of a hill and knew what he had to do. Sol gathered a pinch of dirt from the nearby ground, and a draught of water from a lake, and infused them with the peach-pits, putting his light and warmth into each one. 00000B He knew that without the gift of awareness and the ability to make decisions, his creations would be nothing more than living clay, and even as he molded them, Solri sacrificed his Mind, bestowing a tiny piece of himself on every crafted creature. 00000C As he beheld his creations, he named them. The ones who were inspired by Carmi and Ctino were named Humans, and he granted them the largest piece of his will. The creatures he gave them to rule over were only given a small piece of his Will and they would be called Animals. 00000D In the dormant Solri's palm, the humans found prosperity with the flora and fauna, and grew. From that spot in Solri's hand, they wandered across the landscape and enjoyed the bounty of the landscape for an eon. 00000E One day, as Humanity grew, they looked up at Sol's radiant warmth and felt his loneliness still in them. The children looked into themselves and felt remnants of his instinct, his need for fulfillment and companionship, and the need to create. They felt the bond between their awareness and his and named it after him, calling it Soul. Characters Alec is a soldier in the Runevale Elite guard.
