Leon 55 Report post Posted May 31, 2013 So yesterday, I was checking my email and received a PM from this site. First, I thought it was a script request, or a question on how to use one of my scripts. Instead, I got this: Hey! Just wanted to say thank you for the scripts you've made over the years. Your Curse of Darkness-style crafting system is my favorite crafter of all time, and your battle bgm fixer has been really helpful. It's like "Leon's ___ Script" is a title/badge of quality when I'm searching for something.Anyways, been using your script for years now in Rmxp and finally I get a chance to thank you personally for them, so.. thanks!--Metwe Thank you, Metwe. That is the best message I have received in a long time about my scripts.
Bob423 52 Report post Posted May 31, 2013 Awesome :D (maybe not exactly relevant...) I sorta feel bad now about asking for script help though. One of my biggest fears right now is that all the scripters are annoyed with me. But it's going to be really hard to learn if scripters just stop taking requests. It really wouldn't be fair. Leon 55 Report post Posted May 31, 2013 Yes, Bob. I see your point. But look at it from the scripter's side. Having anywhere from 3-10 people asking for help all at once; many of which are too lazy to try themselves. They just expect it done.
Bob423 52 Report post Posted May 31, 2013 I see...well, since I'm learning scripting, AND have tried to fix everything I need help with already, I guess it would be fine.
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 1, 2013 Good on Metwe for going out of his/her way to thank you. I'm sure there are many more like that who appreciate you work equally as much. It's just a shame they are not as vocal, if they were maybe a lot more scripts would get made :P They just expect it done. I've seen a lot of that around. A requester will ask for something, and when it doesn't come they act like it's their right to get it. Some of them have attitude issues.
Calvinchun 3 Report post Posted June 1, 2013 Well, whoever it is, it's certainly not me! :shifty:
dolarmak 23 Report post Posted June 1, 2013 It's great that some one actually thanked you for the work you did Lizzie :D And I agree that when people are requesting scripts they do expect to be served, as if it's their right or something. But those are also the people who are far too impatient to actually do anything on their own and ultimately their game will never actually get done whether or not they actually got the help. It comes down to those who are willing to try hard at getting things done, usually that means learning the scripting language. Without enough resolve to at least try and learn it they'll never succeed. Bob, I don't see you in the same category as these people. I know you're trying to learn RGSS which is great. It isn't easy for every one (I'm still having a lot of trouble with it myself) and we notice those who are trying and we are much more willing to lend a helping hand to those who do try.
