Holy cow it's been a long time

Recommended Posts

Well.. hello! It's been quite a long time since I was last on these forums. Everytime I tried to sit down and commit time to a game or some other sort of creative project, I seemed to contract a mild case of ADD and walk away after a short period of time. Today I stumbled across the Steam sale for RPG Maker VX Ace. I recall VX not being that big of a hit on launch, but apparently VX Ace has allayed most people's concerns, from my brief reading. So I picked it up, and will be fiddling around on it.

God, I haven't touched Ruby in years. Let's see if I can get back into the swing of things.

For now though, I'll just be looking forward to hanging out around here and seeing if I recognize any old faces; and how many I know from the z11 invision powerboard days!

You're not going to find too many :P Lizzie_S = Leon, me = Neon. Umm I can't remember any others here. In fact the forum you're talking about was never part of this one. The two existed at the same time. I started RMXP Ultimate coz I was bored, and it took off for a while. It was a fun time though (although I see you registered there at the end of 07, by which time I thought it was relatively inactive).

I remember your username but I don't remmber much of your personality. Perhaps because you didn't post much here.

You'll fit right in here then :P All our old members have been adopting this policy in terms of the site these days. If you're truly interested in Ace, you'll be moving on. It's great to see old faces drop by though, it was a unique and fun time to be using RPG Maker in those days.

While I can appreciate that view, I don't necessarily agree with it. Having run and developed several communities over the last 5 years or so, my experience has shown me that just because official support comes along for something related towards your community, enterbrain's community for this scenario, doesn't mean that a third-party community can't still thrive and grow so long as someone passionate is at the reigns. Everyone suffers from burnout, however, so it's unfair for anyone to come in and point fingers or argue. I'm just saying that regardless of my interest in VX Ace, I wouldn't go running off to enterbrains community and totally drop this one. Communities are about the community, not about the content.
