[rmxp] Shalaren Recruitment

I am looking to build a small team, credits for being a part of the development will be provided in game and on game ads! I'm looking for team work where all developers can suggest any idea they have in mind, and can freely discuss ideas, concepts and themes of the game! The game definitely needs mappers as my mapping skills are just not good enough, it needs well written stories and dialogues in game, and just some scripting, eventing and graphics which I believe I can handle myself if there isn't anyone else. so I mostly need story writers, Dialogue writers and Mappers, really need mappers

The world of Shalaren is inspired by many different ideas and concepts, all put into its existence, where many events take place. there are many adventures to go on and many places to visit (at least the idea of them). there Should be many hidden stories going around when talking to NPC's and many different landmarks, so although there is one main story, there will be many side stories as well.

The ones you are about to read are a rough idea of the races.

 

 

Nethien - Perhaps... The Magical Mundanes? haha... Man kind features, however their hair and eye colours posses a much bigger variety.

They are believed to be the very first race brought to this world by the TWIN GOD. The Nethien were the very first wielders of magic who shared their talents over the centuries. It was the Nethiens who brought the Meastre, and it still is the Nethiens who lead the Meastre. In their culture, every person is expected to be good at singing and as a people, they are generally good at entertainment, as they host many events and festivals to celebrate almost anything. they believe a great destiny awaits them, and they wait for it patiently. (more about the Twin god below)

Nethiens exclusively own 3 cities : City of Panshaw in the continent of Euphea, city of Tywardreath in the continent of Balastine, and the city of Franae's Pass of the continent of Arcania.

Aryhan - Named by a prophecy, they have no hair, their skin varies from different shades of green, and have dark coloured eyes.

They are known to be the newest race in Shalaren. They were brought to life from the bottom of the earth by a raging lightning. There is an ancient Nethien prophecy of green like demons emerging from the sky after a terrible storm known as Aryanius. however the no longer nameless Aryhans say they are the reincarnation of another species to have gone extinct for centuries, the 'Syrilth', Who's spirits caused the storm. Their only religious belief revolves around the Syrilth spirits. They are an intelligent race who are naturally good at herbology. they posses a childlike way of talking.

Aryhan exclusively own no cities : They are slowly spreading around the continents as they have no land of their own. however recently some inhabited the Narrow Forest in the continent of Balastine.

Mundane - Defined by simplicity, Mundanes have basic man kind features.

They are extremely agile. Professions are passed on through family lines. They are believed to be the second newest race in Shalaren, who appeared mysteriously, and over the years populated in the continent of Arcania. rumours go around claiming the Mundane came from another dimension or from another world, however there isn't a Mundane old enough to answer the question of where he came from. They believe their gods have turned their back on them. They are mostly driven by jealousy and greed, but as people they are an intelligent race evolving in the fields of technology faster then any other.

Mundane exclusively own 2 cities : Red Hawk and the town of Amoria in the continent of Arcania

Fae - There are different kinds of Fae, but they all share many features like long ears, light skin, light hair colours and colourful eyes.

Fae's are a race of harmony and tales. They are born with butterfly like wings and as they grow bigger, taller and older they gain wisdom as their wings wither and die. they seem to be a combination of elves and faeries however all classified as Fae. As a people, they are generally good at stealth. They have an extremely long lifespan and therefore are known for their wisdom over the years. Oddly, they don't seem to like members of their own species very much. They are also known for the fact that they cannot lie, however wise enough to hide the truth if the right questions aren't asked. Another thing they are known for is making deals, a Fea will give you anything you wish if you give him something he needs in return. Their gods are said to be dead or have fled this world, and all they have left is to worship their never dying queen.

Fae exclusively own 1 city : Their queen resides in the city of Aerilon in the continent of Balastine

Vian - Descendants of Norruth. Their skin is made out of dark blue scales, they have an extremely dark hair and eyes so black they seem like they can swallow the universe.

They reproduce through laying eggs, They can communicate through simple eye gestures and they have an extremely high defence due to their scales. They are naturally attracted to the desert or anywhere where its hot. They are the descendants of the dragon Norruth who used to rule the desert, however has been slain by his own creations. That's why they don't have any religious views as they had slain their creator. In their culture, medicine is a highly prized ability.

Vian exclusively own 1 city : some of the Vian live in the city of Clarcton in the continent of Arcania.

The gods.

 

The Twin gods Ayen (Sun) and Allisa (Moon) together have created the world of Shalaren. however both had different plans and opinions for this world. Ayen has created fire when Allisa has created water, then Ayen has created the earth, but Allisa has created the wind. however they eventually realised that with both of their ideas, they have created a beautiful world. Lonely, they had both decided to have someone occupy the world they had created, but yet again both had different idea's for what should inhabit the lands and the oceans. Ayen had created many animals while Allisa had made many others, it was almost as if the two were competing each other, however nothing they had created was intelligent enough to worship them. wanting to be acknowledged, they each made a different race. Ayen has created the Nethiens, and Allisa had created the Fae. however just like their gods, the two species kept competing each other, resulting in a long war, which had weakened the god's ability to communicate with their creations. seeing as the war was destroying the world the gods worked so hard to create, they tried to find various ways to get the Nethiens and Fae to find terms of peace, but were mostly unsuccessful as their connection was almost gone. Ayen and Allisa both had an idea, to create a perfect race which has all qualities of both races and more, to overpower them, and stop the war... that race was called the 'Syrilth'. Created by both gods, the 'Syrilth' were seemingly flawless. They helped the other races connect, and friendships blossomed throughout Shalaren like an over-fertile plague of daisies. However, Ayen and Allisa had noticed imperfections in her new children, and decided to give them powers beyond imagination. The Syrilth, seeing as how much the gods had given to them, had developed an overwhelming desire for more power that had taken control over them. Ayen, knowing this outbreak and war was his and Allisa's own doing shamefully turned his back on Shalaren. The world was left in eternal night, and for a hundred days, lakes of blood were cast upon the continents. The innocent tears ate away at Allisa, and she decided to do what she had to, or else the Syrilth would tear apart Shalaren completely.  In a dark sacrifice, Allisa's light was stripped from her body, and she was killed along with the darkness she and her brother had unleashed upon the world. With her light, she had created the eight overseers who's only purpose was to protect Shalaren and wipe out the Syrilth.

 

The Overseers.

 

Magic. One of the greatest mysteries of this world, from simple magic capable of levitating objects off the ground to conjuring powerful lightning storms. It takes on many forms and yet it is bound by none. To use such mysterious and sometimes terrifying power one must have the right knowledge, understanding and mentality to control it. However not everyone is born to use it as it is a birthright only granted to a few.

54 years before the Enchanted Seal, the Eight Overseers, filled with tremendous powers, were the first to discover the mysterious forces of magic, How they had done so remains a mystery. Each of The Eight had seen it fit to pass on their knowledge to students who in turn taught to their own, and slowly magic had become more widespread in the world of Shalaren. Magic had made living much easier, creating vast improvements in the fields of Agriculture, Travel and most importantly in Warfare. People were quick to notice that magic was also useful not only in improving lives but in taking them as well. The Order of the Maestre founded by the Overseers, the first wielders of magic had seen over the years the chaos that magic had caused and thus they created the Shroud, An elite force of soldiers with only one task.

To regulate the use of magic from the shadows. The Shroud did their work well. Too well for that matter as many magical users had been slain by their religious zeal to fufill their duty to the Maestre. Soon it had become an unspoken rule that those who use magic, regardless of their position or occupation will be swiftly silenced permenently. The Maestre thinking that the Shroud's actions had solved their problem had breathed a sigh of relief. The world was finally at peace.

How very wrong they were.

Soon leaders from all different races over the world felt threatened by Overseers being the only ones allowed to use magic, and had begun to rise up in open revolt to fight for their freedom to use magic. The Miea, a peace court founded by the Maestre, sought to calm these leaders through peaceful negotiations, However they could not be swayed by mere words and thus they had to be silenced by force. With a heavy heart they gave the order and the Shroud sprung into action silently stifling the voices of the rebellion. At least that was the initial plan. The major powers of the rebellion had managed to convince some of the more prominent and powerful warriors to join their cause and a vicious and terrible battle ensued between the sides that rallied to the Maestre's flag and those who opposed them. The rampant use of magic by both forces had caused reality to shift and dissolve causing most individuals to descend into madness.

Lucius, one of the Eight Overseers, had managed to create a curse, a seal to limit the use of magic throughout the world. The raging flames of war had been cooled. Everyone's magical ability had begun to weaken slowly over the course of days, some even losing their ability to use magic at all. The Enchanter's Seal as they called it brought peace throughout the land. The leaders of the uprising had accepted their loss of access to magic seeing as even the eight were stripped of their own magical ability. And thus peace took it's hold on the land.

At least for awhile...

The remaining Seven resented their loss of magical ability and demanded Lucius to break the Seal. They claimed that they were wrong and that Shalaren needed magic as the people had grown too accustomed in using it. However their true goal was power, Power over the weak and to be looked upon as Gods among all races. Lucius begged them to give the seal a chance, It will bring peace he argued but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

The remaining Seven rallied upon those still loyal to them and formed a new union which they called the "True Order". Knowing that Lucius's death would destroy the seal as he was the one that had created it. Although The Seven who opposed Lucius only held a shadow of the power they once wielded they still managed to consolidate all their powers into one last powerful spell of destruction. Lightning struck the earth violently, the earth split asunder and the winds howled in rage.

All this just to kill one. Lucius however had managed to gather those loyal to him within the Shroud and as destruction raged around them he was protected by the powerful force of his allies. Lucius knew that the seal was the cause of this madness and that only he could control it. Upon realizing this it was up to him to seal himself and the rest of the Eight forever. The Seal held great magic powerful enough to entomb the Eight in a powerful spell, sealing them away for all eternity and scattering them through out the landscape to be forgotten throughout time.

However the True Order remained, earning the name of the "Infamous Order", creating chaos driven by only one purpose, To break Enchanter's Seal. Few had risen up against the tyrannical Order intending to thwart their plans of breaking the seal. These brave men and women are the Heroes of Shalaren and it is up to them to stop the so called True Order and truly bring peace to this world.

The Meastre is the overall government of all Shalaren. they are mysterious as things happen by their choice, however you will probably never encounter anyone from the Meastre, or at least know that you did. There are laws I'd like to add into this section but for now I will leave it as it is.

Character abilities will be based of 6 classes (might add more if a good idea comes to mind)

The classes are:

Warrior: Sword

Close combat. focuses on basic attack and stuns.

Ranger: Bow

Trickster: Daggers

The player creates his character, names it and picks a class to play. then his character will become a part of the world.

the idea is to have different paths for players to go on depending on what decisions they make in game. you arent playing a character that already exists but instead you are adding one yourself. You have the ability to design your character. The game will be very story driven, and every NPC should be capable of having a full on conversation you can have with them (every npc will work with a lot of conditional braches and choices to develop long interesting conversations even tho they are just random npc's)

you will start at this dark cave/cellar unaware of where you are.

I don't want to give too much about the plot. but I will try to explain how I want the gameplay to be. I will be using Blizz-ABS so there will be battles however it isn't going to be all about that. there are many puzzles and riddles to answer, lots of stealth like parts and such. in the beggining of the game you will start as a hostage taken by a group of Aryhans called the "Listeners", who are experimenting on Mundanes, you find that you aren't alone in your cellar and with your inmates you decide to escape. so from there you have to sneak within the darkness and avoid getting caught by Listeners in a horror like theme at first (I'm surprised but it turned out really creepy). the whole escape should be your guide to playing the game and getting used to the controls. and then when you finally escape you will reach Amoria where your journey to become a hero begins. I find the plot really interesting but I don't want to spoil too much.


so I'm looking for any kind of help, even tho I need mappers the most, anything else is always a big plus. anything from just giving critic and suggestions or helping with designing, scripting or eventing.

For mappers interested in what needs to be mapped, here is the map of the continent of Arcania (1 of 3) however in this game only one continent is available for gameplay, the rest exist just in story.

I can help if you need. I can map, make events and event systems, and bassically use most of the rmxp features. (i know it isnt much)
