Where do scripters and spriters hide?

It seems that when a scripter or spriter joins an RPG Maker forum, they are one of the very few there, and are sometimes the only active one. This causes everyone else to constantly request things from them. These awesome people then seem to just disappear without a trace or a goodbye.

 

They could be very busy, or they could've just gotten annoyed and became sick of all the requests.

While people who request too much and don't do enough for themselves can be annoying, when a scripter or spriter leaves, it's unfair for those of us who do what we can, and look to these people simply for help and to teach us how to do these things our selves so we don't need to make quite so many requests.

 

This results in people like me, who are trying to finish a game by ourselves, never getting the resources we need, so we don't finish our games. Or we find easy and lazy alternatives, lowering the quality of the games. It's not really the scripter's fault, I think it's the people who keep asking for things, and don't do enough for themselves.

 

I have no one to script or sprite for me, and I'm trying my best to learn how to do both, so when someone bugs a scripter or spriter, and ends up ruining it for everyone, I can't help but get a little frustrated and impatient when my scripting questions go unanswered and my sprite requests are ignored.

 

Well that's how I see it. Feel free to say I'm wrong, politely.

I understand what you mean.  Every time I think I've found a good set of scripts to make my game the way I want it, I encounter bugs or compatibility issues.  I don't know enough to find out exactly what the problem is, let alone fix it.  But it seems those who have the knowledge lack the time or interest in teaching.  Unfortunately, it doesn't help that some of the more experienced people are inclined to refer inquirers to old scripts that are broken and have no support, thereby exacerbating the issue.

I'm a spriter and I'm not hiding, but I don't have time to make graphics for anyone including myself at the moment lol so Sorry.

 

as for the others, there are a few and some people like Big Ace and Pol are usually pretty good about helping people if they want a script written up, provided it's not too complicated.

Well I haven't gotten much help from Bigace, and Pol knows about as much about scripting as I do, so he can't always help anyway.

I'm sorry for being rude in the other thread bob, but I was busy and hoping another scripter would jump in, don't know what happened to Moonpearl or any other scripter. I was job hunting and trying to complete this menu system for Revelations (which is still getting on my nerves. I have 2 interviews with 2 different petco's next week. Also not trying to mean but when you make your request make sure you are very thorough as it is hard to understand what had wrote which is one of the reason why it was taking awhile respond back. My fault for not asking for clarification, but you also need to make sure yourself that the question you are asking makes sense or hard for people to help you.

I'm here! Only just once in a while. Besides I must confess I got a little lost with the forum's various interface changes so your topics don't necessarily catch my eye. Feel free to ask personnally via PM if you're really in need, I check my e-mails every day and I will have no excuse then. ;)

Yea, I just got work to reduce my hours, so I'll see if I can get to it sometime this week. Hopefully. If they didn't reduce my hours... I'll definitely get to it this week.
