In my opinion, i am not sure I like the idea. Every time a shout-box appears, a forum tends to die. I mean "Why post, when you can use the shoutbox?" I think it is a bad idea, but, i may be the only one.

Ok, I have set up a poll which will decide whether we should keep the Shoutbox or not.

 

Personally, I keep the Shoutbox minimized unless I want to tell the members an announcement or something.

The forums are not very active, and we cant get too much worse. I know thats a bad thing to say about the forum, but the aim of the shoutbox, at this point, is to actually help with activity. It gives members a way to communicate with each other. As the forum gets more active of course, this will not matter.

 

You have a point when you say with a shoutbox, why post? But what im thinking is, can you really get all the RMXP help you need from a shoutbox? This time round I want an active RMXP forum. I dont care if every other forum dies, as long as the RMXP ones are active, and we are helping members, and they creating things. In any case, we will see what the rest of the community wants with the poll, which will decide whether to keep it or not. For those who reading the shouts and the look of it, it can be minimized.

I'm not saying it is a bad or good idea. I am just putting my input in. No offense intended, or taken. I am just looking at both sides of the fence. It should help now, but with more andmore members (after a while) it may get worse.

I thought I said something in this topic yesterday but I guess I didn't. I don't like the shoutbox idea. Like Leon said then people will post in it instead of the forums and I personally can admit to this to from running my own site.

Okay. I'm going to take it down, but I'm going to leave this topic open for further discussion. So far everyone posting wants it down, if enough members want it back up then I will put it back up. I will link to this topic in the next announcement.

I defanetly vote no, as their will be nobody posting in the forums if you do that. I'm new BTW... Well not new, but just resettle found the site again after a long time, So hi all, and no shout box!, or I'll go on strike! ;)

Ah, welcome to the new forums Prepe. Everyone but Emily_konichi(SCMike from the old forums) will not know who you are. For everyone else, Prepe is one of the first members and posters of RMXP Unlimited. It's good to have you here.

 

Though we have drifted quite off-topic and this is an old topic. The Shoutbox has been disabled December last year. If you like, make an introduction topic.
