Black Butterflies

Behind The Scenes

Hello everybody!
Omg I've been waiting for this moment for 4 years! I've finally finished this huge project, It was like a short journey for me and I learned a lot. So I'm writing this to share my experience and tell you what really happened during the development process.

First year:

At first when I got RMXP, I played around with it and decided to develop a silly game called "heroes from power" (yeah I know it's absurd). The whole story was about some heroes that go on a journey to save the world (Yeah that's all -.- ). There wasn't a single black butterfly in the game back then 😛 I posted it on two forums (no it wasn't on GDU) After a short while, I shared it with my sister and she helped me a lot. Finally I wrote an amazing story and started to work on a game. Later I named it Black Butterflies. I worked the whole year on the game and finished a lot of maps and the database.

Second year:

Everything was going very well with the game though most of the parts (such as eventing) were undone. It was in summer when I found out that a commercial game is out on the same forum I posted my game and its idea was same as my game (Some of you probably remember when I talked about it on GDU). It was very shocking for me and I was very very sad about it. I contacted the admins of those forums but they were not really willing to help me even though they couldn't reject that idea was the same. I really was about to give up on the game and I gave myself a short break, But thanks to my friends and my family, I backed on the track again. I couldn't leave my lovely butterflies after all 😛

Third year:

I made a great progress with the game, Everything was done, except for eventing. Again, in summer when about 50% of the eventing was done, I bought a new laptop and faced some problems with it so in the end I lost my data and my game was currpted (again, Some of you probably remember this). This one was very difficult, I had made a lot of progress and it was like a nightmare to start from the beginning. I was so hopeless and disappointed but finally I recovered as much data as I could. I lost the whole database and scripts anyway. It took me a few months to re-make everything that was lost. I regained some motivations and got back to work.

Forth year:

Well forth year was safe and sound, I had some rl issues but I finally managed to finish the game *grin*

Phew! That's all! As you can see, It wasn't an easy journey, But I didn't give up and I'm proud to announce that I've successfully made my game. If you're working on a game, don't lose your motivation, no matter what. I believe my game has a story that is so inspiring, That's why I worked so hard to finish the game and publish it. I hope you enjoy it!

Have fun!
